FX-8350 Overclock

a few mins into the test and it stopped and said the system was unstable . Should i drop it to 4.3Ghz and try again

Ok your going to have to keep 4.2ghz for now, as the board cannot do the voltage right and your cooler is holding you back.

The only thing you could do is forget ibt and try getting stable for your video editing and within temps wise.

I don't really understand the ins and outs of motherboards, So is it the motherboard making the chip run to hot, or is it the chip that's running hot

.

So do you think a better cooler might get the temps down or do i really need another motherboard like the GA-970A-UD3P. Or both

.

To be honest the plan was always to get a better cooler as this one is getting on a bit. I feel a new thread coming on

:D

I'm think it might be worth trying a better cooler on it. But do you think another board might be a better way to go first

Well with the other board, it will show you your stock volts and can input numbers for overclocking, mine has been rock solid since i had it for a year, i have abuse mine to the max, 2fan headers dont work as i snapped them, spilled coolant all over the board, push 1.7volts into 1 of my cpu's.

Good temps are around 50-55c with a good air cooler and thats with overclocking to about 4.4-4.7ghz.

So looking at what you saying i need to shave off about 10C on mine to get it somewhere near. I'm wondering if the Shadow Rock 2 could maybe do that.
