FX CHIP

When installed the Freezer 64 Pro will i have to go into the bios and change anything ?

Also will i have to clean my CPU of paste and add new paste to new CPU fan

You don't need to change anything in the BIOS.

You need to wipe the old stuff off the CPU (all of it) and apply new paste to the CPU, the new cooler instructions will probably cover this part of it.

Take your time with it though, you really don't want to be blowing a £580 CPU by rushing the installation.

Technically, no...but since we're talking about the FX57 here, you could try and overclock it! :D

Yes, that would be wise. Arctic Silver 5 should do the job.

I guess i will get paste with the Freezer 64 pro

As for overclocking mmmmmm not sure about that , would not know how to do it , i guess u do that from the bios settings

just had a look at CPU temp in bios and its 36 without Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler

CPU Temp - 36
M/B Temp - 38

P.C has been on from 6PM tonight

Vcore 1.39v

Q-FAN Controller- Disabled - Should this be on ?

You'll want to leave QFan off really, it makes the fan spin at different speeds relating to the temperature, but the Freezer64 should be ok @ 100% all the time.

You really need to get in to overclocking, waste of an FX chip otherwise!!

So what part of the BIOS would i need to touch for overclocking ? I guess i need to learn

Should be something like Advanced Chipset Settings, but it's best to start a new thread to get advice from people who've overclocked FX chips before (I haven't)

Well, the FX series do have unlocked multipliers which is why they're so expensive. The default is set at 14 (i.e. 14 x 200Mhz = 2.8Ghz). If you push that up to 15, you will now have an overclocked processor running at 3.0Ghz. You will need to test for stability using Prime95/SuperPI/SnM etc. Overclocking is best done in small steps with stability testing after each stage.

If it's fails any of the above tests, it probably needs a bit more voltage. Increase it by one step only, and then test again.

You can also increase the HTT by small steps to overclock (this is how everyone with locked multipliers do their overclocking).
