FX57 Worth ?

I would have gone Dual Core tbh mate. a 170 Opty or 4400+ for that kinda money.

Buying the FX57 @ £350 may give you the chance to sell it on at a higher price. Might a good little investment but if it doesnt work out that way then you have made the wrong dicission im afraid.

To be honest i wouldve had the FX-57 as well, even if its just for bragging value. it wouldnt have cost that much even if i got £100 for my current chip. But to be honest my 3700+ is almost at FX-57 speeds so id have to spend a while justifying it to myself even if i could get the FX57 to 3GHz.

I still wish id got the X2 dual core 3800+, i may still do yet if i can sell my current chip for a decent price.

well, ok then. have fun wasting your money
give him break :)

it is his money,i can vouch the Fx57 is a very good cpu and you will not need to upgrade and if you are not into overclocking you have a no need to try it is very fast out of the box.not many games use dual core and if that was the case it will be still fast.

as fast as mine i paid £113 for :p

meat loaf is right, i've had my 3700+ at 2.6 and thats the same core speed as a fx-55 and considering the price difference you can buy a zalman cpu fan and some artic silver5 and still be quids in.

I think this is farily academic seeing as the OP was posting in the 3DM 06 thread with scores using an FX57 pretty much the same time as the original question was being asked so I guess he made his mind up pretty sharpish.

Very true Matt, but in all honesty he made the wrong decision especially as he even stated he uses the computer for a few FPS's and PHOTOSHOP - probably the biggest reason to get a DC as it is multithreaded and will work twice as fast/ take half the time (you choose). Even at dual 2.0ghz with a 170 it would rinse the FX57 in photoshop. Oh well, he received advice and made his own decision, fair enough in my eyes.
