G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-8000C5

is it worth going for 8500's over 8000's? ive currently got my 6400's running at 480 (960) ie, almost 8000 speeds, but i want a better clock than my current. theres only under 100mhz in it between the two speeds. yet the price is a good tenner or so different. is it worth it?

My GSkill's can run at 1100mhz so just a pip over PC2-8500 so I would say just go for the PC2-8000 stuff.

This the pc8000 kit I presume, Timings/volts and is it stable?
Would be interested to know how easily I can expect to bump my divider up to get some more speed out of my set. (will be priming my quad at 3.8 tonight)

Hi guys
My ram arrived today and I've installed it and currently running at

5-5-5-15 (divider 2.50) 938mhz

DDR Volts + 0.3v
FSB Volt +0.2v
MCH +0.2v

CPU is a E2140 as you can see below, however if I bump it to 2.66 divider 1126mhz the machine just reboots before bios shows and sets to default clocks? Latest bios for the board (965P-DS3)
Is my CPU holding me back or should I be up'ing the volts some where else? Or will it just not run at that speeds?

Tbh your FSB and MCH voltages are a tad high. Neither should need to be above +0.1v at that CPU speed.

Are you still limited to 375mhz when running 1:1? If so then up your CPU voltage.

Hi Cob

I'll drop them down then mate, I'll try 1:1 and report back ;)

Hi Cob
Went to 1:1 (800) and put the cpu to 400 and not boot up'd the volts to 1.50 and still no joy! Just boots then reboot and goes back to default bios settings :(

I think the cpu is the issue, not really wanting to go higher than 1.50 on the vcore?

Yup some people can get 4ghz easy but min goes to 2.16 stable 24/7 but at 3.2 it's 50/50 stability wise even though temps remain unchanged. I bet your Q6600 is similar.

In retrospect though my old Q6600 the B3 would only clock to 2.5GHz lol.

Ha? I take it you don't mean me :)

Question?

Guys can someone confirm summit for me please?

I have this ram installed and my e6600 is running at 3.6 (9x400) now should this RAM run be able to run at 1000mhz (2.1v) at that CPU clock speed? Or will I have to lower the overclock on the CPU to get higher mhz on the RAM??

Many thank ;)

You should have a multi on your board to run the ram at 4:5.

FSB 400/4 = 100

MEM 100 * 5 = 500

500 * 2 = 1000Mhz DDR

This is where I get confused :(

My ram is at 1:1 (800mhz shown in the bios) which is shown as 2.0 in the bios, then theres 2.50 then 2.60 etc etc

I'm assuming that the RAM mhz it's shown as in the bios isn't that actual speed? Or is it...

Sorry to be a numpty

Ah right.

It'll be 2.5 then

400 x 2.5 = 1000Mhz DDR :)
