Whats the best way to flash this.
I have read it has to be drive 0 or it wont work. But it can't be the boot drive.
Well mine is drive 0 and it is my boot drive (win7 64bit RC) I want to install my retail Win7 and thought I would flash before hand.
Any help appreciated

Gary

Is it this drive? http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=124&c1=3&c2=6

You'd need to confirm - but it looks like an Indilinx based drive. Can you put the firmware on a bootable CD/USB and run it from DOS? That would comply with the requirements and that's how the OCZ and Crucial ones work.

[edit]BTW if it's 1819 firmware you're trying to flash it to, you might want to wait a bit. Whilst it supports TRIM it is known to have some serious degradation issues.

Yes thats the one and yes was going to flash the 1819 firmware. If this 1819 is no good is there another coming soon??

I'm not sure, as I've not been following the saga lately, but I think they are looking at releasing another update.

Get yourself the Wiper tool (it's on the G Skill Support Forum) which is a manual run TRIM and you won't be missing out on anything :)

You're welcome Gary :)

Crucial have confirmed they've just received a new firmware from Indilinx for internal testing now - maybe another couple of weeks before it's released. So I'd expect G-Skill have received it as well. Definitely not worth flashing to 1819 for now :)
