NOw most of you can call me stupid but I have searched through the forums to find something concrete regarding this ram and the ds3/4

I was looking at this weeks special and I was wondering if I can get the motherboard and ram that was on offer to work with the 6600.

I know that there seems to be a cas3 bug with the ram that can be fixed with a new bios.

However as I don't plan on getting a celeron to post in order to change the bios, can anyone tell me definitely whether or not this combo will post.

I know that the ds3 has a ceiling of 500mhz, which is more than enough for me. BUt I just want to be sure before i put down an order for the ds3/4 and ram.

thanks

With my DS4 I have been totally unable to get the NR RAM to post, sorry. I assume it will be same story for DS3.

EDIT : I now have mmy RAM posting and booting properly but I had to use some opld generic RAM to overvolt by 0.3v and set the timings manually to 5-5-5-15.

EDIT 2 : While it will just about POST the system hangs in or before getting to windows. It seems very unstable.

Thinking of getting G.Skill 6400 NZ to go with P5W DH but now I'm not really sure. Is Corsair 6400 C5 a safer bet? I know that picking wrong memory can give you nightmares for days.

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBNR) (MY-014-GS)

I bought this ram with a conroe E6400 and an Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi and cant get the RAM to run at default, it underclocks to 5300 which is really annoying

Nothing obvious in the mobo bios to change the speed

Not you again.

Erm... eh?

Wouldn't say corsair is any more compatible than any other ram... That's the reasoning for the comment :)
Don't see how corsair ram would help if it was a board issue either (the original point of this thread)

I think it can run on a slightly lower voltage, so it should work fine, problems with the GSkill could be avoided by booting with some other RAM and then upping the Vdimm in the BIOS. (not 100% on this).

Stick with Corsair people, it's the most used round the world memory so every motherboard should be compatible with it.

I know you like Corsair and all (You recommend it in every thread) but I can't see that statement being backed up :p.

And "nearly every motherboard" isnt true either ;).

if you have a look around there are some corsairs which aren;t compatibel as well...

the twin2048 cl5 version is incompatible due to its voltage requirements of 2.1

hello guys

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) (MY-013-GS)

hows this ram with the asus p5b deluxe?

any feedback would be greatly appreciated?

cheers

I have a ABit AB9 Pro with Corsair PC-6400 C5 stuff, it works at 300mhz @ 1.8v @ CAS3.

It's suppose to run 5-5-5-15 @ 1.9v but if I set the SPD to auto or the RAM CAS to 5 or 6 the board sets CAS to 3. Now if I set the CAS to 4, it runs at 4

With CAS 4 @ 1.9v I can't seem to get past 320mhz ish I don't know if this is the board or the CPU but I can't drop the RAM speed any lower (Thank you Abit  ).

I think the Corsair will give you less problems - I wonder if some of the RAM out there can't work @ CAS 3 @ 266 hence these problems. I wonder if a Celeron would help booting the board...
