** G.SKILL RETURNS TO OcUK WITH THEIR MIGHTY TRIDENT X!! **

What's wrong with your kit now?
Nothing really they just don't tighten as much as I'd like and I need another kit for a different build so just taking the opportunity to upgrade.

Correct, from my own testing 2666 c11 Mfr's barely outperform 1866 c11. It all boils down to the tfrc above all things, on Mfr it sits at best above 400, on a good Sammy kit you can expect 81-96.

The one thing Mfr is good for is hitting silly high mhz.
Ouch, definitely isn't for my needs then, that's quite a difference in trfc. I presume that's on cold when going for the silly MHz aswell so aiming for that to compensate for the timmings wouldn't be an option. Thanks for the help pgi.

@Gibbo

might be worthwhile adding the following to the descriptions.

useful for modders :) taken direct from g.skill website

"It’s Not The Fastest, Until It’s TridentX!

G.SKILL TridentX series is known as the world’s most powerful and fastest DDR3 memory available in the market with numerous world record titles under its belt. Named after the powerful weapon of Poseidon, Greek God of the Seas, G.SKILL TridentX is imbued with extreme overclocking capabilities waiting to be unleashed in your system.

Removable Heat Spreader Fin

Our TridentX series features a removable heat spreader fin to improve your cooling options. With the heat spreader fin, the increased surface area helps keep the memory cooler. On the other hand, with a system that already has a sufficient cooling solution; the fins can be removed to accommodate massive CPU coolers or other customized cooling solutions. Please refer to the following user guide.

5.4cm with Fins on
3.9 with Fins off"

Tbh the timings all have to scale up with speed, I can get my 2666c11 kit to something like 2933 c13, but the perf gain is minimal due to the sacrifice in timings.

I think I still have screens from the odd bench when I had mfr Installed, be back shortly.

Here you go, some simple aida testing, I think I have some maxxmem screens somewhere too if needed.

As you can see the tRFC is astronomically high at near as impossible to lower to any kind of efficient level.

Tuned at 1866mhz wipes the floor with it.

Interested in the 16gb c10 kit as I was planning on moving from 8gb soon. Wonder if theese would fit under a k2 cooler with the fin removed.

Give me a shout if you want measurements, have a kit on my desk I've been meaning to rma for the last 8 months, can easy take the fins off and measure.

Just found the measurements on a review mate.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/GSkill/F3-2400C10D-8GTX/4.html

53.53mm with fin on.
39.65mm with fin off.

My current TG kit is a standard sized set. Will have a check for space in a bit. Prior to which i had a set of patriot venom, higher than standard so had to remove the cooler to get them in the correct slots. Only to find they were faulty.

Few quick phone cam shots showing clearance.

Slid the front fan up a touch to get maximum clearance.

Should be OK I think, I just measured my HyperX Genesis Greys which are the smallest DIMM's I own, then come out at around 32mm from gold-fingers to end of heatsink

G.skill make some really good ram,Im still using my 8GB Ripjaws 1600Mhz 7-8-7-24 that's been in numerous builds and its never skipped a heartbeat.
Those 3000MHz Dual Channel kit,OMG.

why is the memory pricing going up?
Greed...Same with hard drive prices,They never put the price back down because people are buying them!

I suspect the vulcans are the same mate as they use bog standard low profile heatspreaders too.

Looking at it, I think you have another easy 5-8mm going by that pic, should be fine with the fins removed :)

Ordered a set ;)
Always had cheap and cheerful TG ram, about time i treated myself :D (even if it's only £15 difference between kits)

Good man :D

Will get some ordered once I've finished spunking money on monitors :p
