** G-SYNC IS NEARLY HERE & MANY NEW MONITORS FROM AOC!! **

The news isn't looking great :(

Here's Gibbo's reply to me in this thread in the Latest Deals section:

That is heartbreaking! :(

When he says price is going to be crazy - bare in mind this is launching at 800 USD, just how crazy are we expecting? Any more than £599 and we are getting well and truly ripped off. Straight USD to GBP + VAT gives ~£564 at present.

Then add shipping and the fact only 20 units will be avaliable, we're probably looking at a good £750. Way too much for me, was really looking forward to getting the swift as well. Once my monitor fund has filled back up i'll get a 4k monitor.

hey guys, anyone know what the colours are like on the £180 model?

I tried a BenQ 144Hz monitor, but the colours looked hella grey and I returned it..

That AOC model for £180 looks like a real bargain, if the colours are passable.

Aye the more that comes out about the ROG the lower my expectations are for it, looks like it's going to be expensive and most likely have panel issues with colour fade.

I'm really tempted by that £180 TN panel. No idea why people rag on 'em so much, I have a Iiyama ProLite E2710HDS at the moment and to colours and viewing angles are really good. Would like to see a review of it 1st though.

I think a lot of the hate is misplaced and based on the older TN panels.
Don't get me wrong, TN does have washed out colours compared to IPS and the viewing angles are worse, but who in gods name games under the desk or at the side of the screen?

Most 'normal' people game head on to their screen, everything is fine there :D

TN's are well worth another look these days

After calibration, the PB287Q represents colors slightly more accurately overall than the IPS-based PB278.

I'm gobsmacked at the difference in price between the g-sync and normal screens.

I would imagine that the prices will drop to more reasonable levels once the "ooooh new and shiny" tax starts to wear off. I would hope that once more models from different manufactures start to be released the prices will drop into the £250 - £300 region.
