G92 scores 10k in 3DMark06

Well that came from a single forum post so frankly that's probably 99% false.

It probable is. I would think it will be close to the spec of the top end card which ought to be called the G90 however, I very much doubt it is the spec of the G92 midrange card.

Just depends what Nvidia release first.

New at Hardspell is this:

G92

740MHz core clock
64 stream processors
256-bit DDR3 1800MHz 512MB
TDP between 7900GS and 7900GTX
3DMark06 on QX6700: 97xx
Price: US$249-299

G98

800MHz core clock
32 stream processors
256-bit DDR3 1600MHz 512MB
TDP higher than 8600GTS
3DMark06 on QX6700: 74xx
Price: US$169-199

If true, looks like the G92 will be a viable alternative to the 8800 GTS 320Mb.

Higher clock speed, less stream processors but higher memory bandwidth and the extra memory ought to make it faster than the 8800 GTS 320Mb.

If those specs are going to be what it is, certainly aint going to compete with an 8800, even says, 7900GT and 7900GTX..

Don't know. ANybody got a QX6700 with a 8800 GTS 320Mb to tell us what score they get in 3dMark 06?

One thing to bear in mind is that NV really don't need to bring out a new high end card, because the 8800ultra is still faster than anything the competition has to offer.

I think if these rumours are true it is good news for Nvidia as it will put more pressure on the midrange segment. That said if they could get 2900xt beating performance for £200 it would be a good thing also (say a 8900GTS).
