How do you remove the residue left behind by Tree Sap from the paintwork??..

My Civic has a Blob in the middle of the bonnet and another just above the rear window on the drivers side!...

Basically the Car was sitting under a tree for a week which splodged Sap on the car!, and when I got back it was baked on!!

The Car is Silver and the residue (which is like concrete) is White!... It just makes the car look crap.. Looks like a Hooge Scratch!, but I know it does come off (I tried it on a small patch on the one on the back window!)..

I'll get some piccies up later.

I want to remove it without damaging the paint (unless thats already happened and I now need a re-spray  )..

Help!. :(

Something like this should do the job nicely. :)

No it won't. Might say it does, but it really won't :(

You need to get a product that will disolve the tree sap, but is paint friendly. Possibly white spirit washed off VERY quickly.

Ah, I've never had to deal with tree sap before. Perhaps decent tar remover then?

Definately use a claybar. You will need to do the whole panel, and you might as well do the whole car.

Basically, this is what to do (and Ive not given the full detailing way of doing it as I dont know how well you treat your car at the moment).

Wash it
Dry it
Clay it
Wash it
Dry it
Polish it
Wax it
Admire it

For the full detailing version of the above,

Wash it using two bucket method
Dry it using Megs Ultimate Drying Towel using patting method
Using the detailing spray as lube, and half the clay rub the clay along the panel, making sure you turn the clay when dirty and showing the paint the clean side
Wash it again using two bucket method
Dry it again as above
Polish it using something like Megs
Wax it with something like nattys Poor boys
Always wax and polish using Micro Fibre cloths
Dress the tyres using Megs Ultimate Tyre Dressing

Check out www.detailingworld.co.uk for full detailing details and loads of help and advice from idiots like me that spend 7 hours doing the above.....

Since when did OcUK do car products haha! :p

Nice one!

I would try the clay bar but i doubt it'll get rid of all of it!

I know their not Big (The Bonnet one is about 1.5" top to bottom) but their annoying!.. Though they do appear to be waring off after each wash (gradually).

Might give the Clay Thing a go!... Cheers.

Any other Suggestions :D

Good luck with the tree sap. I had a few baked on patches on my old cavalier. I tried everything, washing loads, T-cutting, claying, tar remover, even white spirit, carb cleaner... everything I could think of.

Never worked, the marks were still there when I sold it.
