Just wondering what gadgets people have for their cars here.

My brother just bought a new turbo gauge and a clip clap meter which measures voltage etc... for his subaru.

I just purchased a Sat Nav system for my Grande Punto - NavMan ICN 530.

So who has what gadgets for their car?

Andy

Pioneer Avic-X1R (DVD / Sat-Nav / Mp3 / 6.5" Touch Screen etc)

Other odds and ends such as BulletCam and the such.

Just a tad over 2k In toys :)

Personally speaking I don't go for gadgets in cars, the less the better as far as I am concerned.

Again personally speaking, in my opinion, all most of them do is distract you from the real job in hand of concentrating on what is going on around you on the road outside the car, rather than peering and various lights, guages and whatever inside the car.

As for sat nav, call me old fashioned but what exactly is wrong with a map anyway????

Hmmmm.

Boost gauge
Air Fuel gauge
Sat Nav
Solar Powered battery charger
G meter
Electronic boost controller

Thats it off the top of my head.

If i could afford to employ a maid to do my housework i would do that, if i can afford to buy a satnav to take some of the stress away from finding a place i will do that also ;)

Maps are all good and well but they require planning and looking at / figuring out the best route, with my satnav you slap in the postcode it looks at the routes then looks at the traffic figures the best route out, if i take a wrong turn or if the road is closed i don't need to stop and look at a map and think umm which way should i go it does it all for me :)

I seem to remember talking about the pros and cons before in another thread ;)

I've got a steering wheel, some pedals, seats and a gearstick, what else do I need?

Glovebox - nope
Electric windows - nope
Aircon - nope
Airbags - nope
Power steering - nope
Etc....

Having an Elise really does make you re-evaluate what you actually do need in a car. I used to love my gadgets but I honestly don't miss any of them now.

Quoted for truth

Totally agree there is nothing else needed in any car, except maybe on ocassions a bit more luggage room than just enough to store a spare pair of pants and a toothbrush.

I thought you were fitting a load of ICE in your car?

That sounds like gadgets to me. :p

I just have a MP3 Headunit, and my PDA with TomTom for long trips.

Just sold my Sinfonis and bought some Focal speakers to replace the standard stuff.

I go commando, power to weight n'all that. Must be worth another 0.001BHP/tonne

I recently fitted a Pioneer DEH-P55BT mp3 head unit with built in bluetooth which is by far the best gadget I've ever bought as it does exactly what its says it will and it does it bloomin well.

Other than that I've got a PDA Tom Tom set up and er... a phone charger :p

That of course is the true Elise owners option, but not in the winter, all those draughts up the trouser leg.

Then again there is always bicycle clips :D

Just my Dell Axim X50v with TomTom at the moment.

Other than the stuff built into the car like rain sensing wipers, dual zone climate, automatic recirculation, remote control total closure/opening windows etc.

I think you could manage 4 nights ;)

Clarkson said something about getting 6 nights in his book but i think he is fibbing!

At the moment just a fancy headunit with a remote and a gauge pod for 3 gauges (oil temp, oil pressure and voltage) that I have sat here in my room.

Eventually, I want a few more gauges and a CarPC which will act as my SatNav, music storage, TV, DVD player... etc etc

Oh, and some fancy electronic engine managment... like an Apexi AVCR.
