At the moment just a fancy headunit with a remote and a gauge pod for 3 gauges (oil temp, oil pressure and voltage) that I have sat here in my room.

Eventually, I want a few more gauges and a CarPC which will act as my SatNav, music storage, TV, DVD player... etc etc

Car PC is my next setup, i'm going mega slim Dell D400 laptop in boot then vga and usb out to Avic for video + touch screen :) (I think its possible)

Just my Dell Axim X50v with TomTom at the moment.

Other than the stuff built into the car like rain sensing wipers, dual zone climate, automatic recirculation, remote control total closure/opening windows etc.

You realise of course, that if you took all that OFF your car, you would not need the 250bhp re-map you are thinking of, because that lot off the car would release at least that amount of power from the engine, plus the loss in kerb weight, you would have a real rocketship  ;)

Yea but then how would I open the window from the office to cool the car down before I get in on a hot day :p

Good idea using a laptop. No need to fabricate a case to store it... just slip it under the seat or something. :)

Yea easy peasy + you can charge it on 12v mega easy as well, perfect package + its got a battery backup :)

Mine is only 1.4Kg for the full machine, 1.8Ghz P4m, 1GB DDR, 80GB HDD, Intel GFX, 12.1" TFT, etc.

Does it have red lights on the front and call you Michael? ;)

entai - how do you capture recording from your bullet cam?

Was thinking of doing it with my car (AVIC, or even bike)

I would highly doubt that the AVIC has VGA and USB touchscreen.

There are some advantages to a laptop (size, own battery) but there are disadvantages (no startup/shutdown controller), no upgradability.

I know i can get a composite to vga converter box, and i'm sure i've seen an aftermarket pioneer interface to usb but i can't seem to hunt it down again.

Upgradability aint an issue since its just for a mess about, my avic does just about everything i could want a car pc to do (With addon boxes) Except internet access.

I have this button that I push one way and the windows open, and pull it and they close!

I have an origin B2...

And that's it!

Need to get a boost guage though just to rice it up properly ;)

You knows it, watch out which pillar mount you buy because they are all huge!

Well I'm thinking of maybe getting rid of that crap center console clock/cubby hole, and putting some guages in there. However a discrete pillar one would be pretty cool - though I love the subtle looks of the car, I'd hate to make it too showy...

Center airvents are the perfect size for a 52mm gauge, dead easy to wire up as well, looks very good when replaced for gauges :)

Good point - didn't think of that - though do they not get hot when you put the heater on full blast?
