Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800 GS+ AGP

Just had a quick look in the box last night, and noticed that it has a different power connector than my 6800GT card. Instead of a 4-pin connector its got this 6-pin connector instead. Why is this different?

I don't really know. But they do provide a 4pin molex to PCI-E connector. Don't forget, this card is based on a PCI-E platform chip..so that's why it needs it. Also need's good rails on the PSU too.

I did get a connector with 2-3 pin molex connectors (1 pin was removed from each) and the 6-pin connector to go into the graphics card.

The question is, where do those 2 3-pin molex connectors plug into?

Are you running your P3.2 @ stock levels by any chance? With that mobo you should be able to have some overclocks which, in theory, should give you higher scores. I have a IC7 Max 3, and at the moment im on 3.36, will go to at least 3.6 when I get my new air cooling put on, as the stock heatsink that I have is really quite useless.

Thanks for the info, got my P4 3.2 @ stock :)

I originally did intend to oc my rig which is why I`ve got pc3700 memoryto run the dividers 1:1 but running quiet became more important as I`m set up in my open plan living / dinning room. In my antec sonata piano case is stuck the bespoke sound proofing (foam pads) that will increase case temp but keep sound down with zalman big and slow cpu cooler. OC the case temps rise, especially in summer so just have it at stock.

For interest I upped the fsb to 210 with memory and agp untouched, in 3D mark 05 with no coolbits tweaking my scores are;
6395 stock 3.2Gb
6634 cpu oc @ 3.36Gb
so aprox a 4% increase in GPU speed for a 5% increase in CPU speed so does show that these higher end card will be CPU limited

It must be assumed that the 7900GT will be proportionaly even more cpu limited even though it will be faster than the 7800GT :(

Into 2 spare connectors from one lead from the PSU. I can't explain it, make sure what you plug them into from the PSU isn't also plugged into anything else in your system.

I need to know which 2 molex connectors to use. I have a Tagan 480, and there are several spare molex connectors hanging around inside, is it just a case of using any 2 connectors that are free?

At the moment I have a Gainward 6800GT, and it is plugged into a blue coloured molex with "VGA CARD" on it, but I only have 1 of those. Shall I use that as molex connector 1, and just any other molex for connector 2?

I just need to make sure as I dont want to be doing any wrong connections for such an expensive piece of hardware. Tell me if im being paranoid :p

Lol, dude you are being paranoid ;)

I would do as you have mentioned above, the worst that will happen is that it won`t work :D

( joking aside, It will be ok and nothing will get broken )

I was just being curious really, as that VGA card cable is a very thick one that has its own insulation, where all the other molex's just have strands of different wire.

Don`t really know if there is any difference between between the vga and other molexs` as far as the output is concerned, the thicker one + insulation could just be that way to make it `look` different from the others  , I`m sure others on this forum will know.

I know im being paranoid here, but im a newb as far as installing stuff into the machine all by myself, as I used to get someone to do it, but its only recently that I have put some small bits in, and realiase its not as hard as I first assumed
