So have any of you got this, it is tempting me to get, but as it has no multiplayer aspect to it I am unsure if it will last me.

Is it a good game to play, and does the whole way it is meant to work work well?

If you played the first one then this one is a lot better. Its quite a big game interms of galaxy size and you can customise how many other races you want to compete against. From the little I have managed to play so far it seems like there is lots to research, plenty of ships to build and customise and theres also a campaign mode.

Should keep me busy. Came in a Tin Box too!

Whats the battles like in it?

Good to watch or is it a samey affair of numbers win?

So tempted by it!

It feels pretty much like Civilisation in space (no surprises there!)

It does play well and I really like the ship customisation features but I've found my unfamiliararity with these future technologies to be a bit of a hindrance.

It was Starforce, i would never install a game that used that protection :(

Toca 3, GT legends and X3 all use it (I have them installed atm) and I have had no problems. A lot of games seem to be picking up the newer version.

I love this game, it has had me hooked for 2 weeks straight, while i havent played it every day it has been the only game for those 2 weeks. It has a steep learning curve but once you get the jist of it, it is very good, i reccomend buying it!

Can you explain how the combat system works, can you actually see the ships fighting or is it a stat screen saying who has won?

Very high standard, although it seems to be rated as good as but made more up to date.

Ohhh it is so tempting :(

Who cares, whips out le wallet :p £17.99 for this can not be a bad buy, looks packed with re-playability.

got this yesterday .. am liking it so far.. very much like civ4 (in space, duh)

the research is a bit confusing though, in civ4 u were advised as to what would be the best thing to get for various situations

in this u are given a tech tree and left to research whatever the hell u want.. which when uve been playing the game for 10minutes is a bit deep

just completed the first campaign mission... a nice bit of bombardment is definitely the way to go before invading :D
