Game closing stores NOW.

Surprised by the Bristol choice of closure. It's seems to be the better of the 3 locations within a 5 minute walk. I can only guess it was the most expensive rent. The closer in Weston Super Mare makes sense, as the other store is only 2 doors down.

My local at Lakeside had 3 GAME stores.

The two inside the centre are said to have closed but I think the third one outside in the retail park is still open.

Must confess the only time I ever bought anything from Game was several £3 wow beta packs back in 2004 (which i then made a bit of a killing on courtesy of the bay :D ). Staff generally seemed nice enough though and people losing their jobs is never a good thing. The high streets are getting emptier by the week and all this jubilation at their demise seems a little short sighted...

watching the administrator on sky news before and he comes across like everyone else in a suit, and thats rather clueless about the whole games industry.

skys suited business bafoon said "game have had problems because we all download games on our smart phones and tablets" nothing to do with steam, psn, xboxlive or play and amazon then.

sorry for the guys who are out of work at game but for anyone who's still got a job id be looking to jump ship as it seems the guys incharge still dont understand the way the games market works.

Does that include Game Station? The local Gamestation isn't on the list, or maybe it is, and one of the Game stores isn't..

It was a joke in Norwich anyway... I have no idea why they had 2 Games + a Gamestation, if you combined all their sales it would have been fine. To be honest this is probably why the Chelmsford Game isn't closing. It was the only one and there wasn't a Gamestation around either. The only other real place you could buy games there was HMV, and that doesn't count..

My local one at Edinburgh Ocean Terminal closed, glad my other half had her last shift there at the weekend and has moved onto a new job.
Edinburgh Princes Street also closed but still leaves 4 stores in the city.

Quite surprised that neither of the Livingston stores have been closed (1 Game and 1 Gamestation) also seems to be Gamestations that are remaining open up here rather than GAME Store.

You realize central banks controlling credit and creating recessions at will, bailing out corporations so they can maintain a monopoly is all the opposite of capitalism right? Marxism has created this environment. If you're not on the subsidised gravy train you're guna have a hell of a time running a big company now and in the future.

No, that's *exactly* what capitalism is. Monopolies are the capitalist ideal. Capitalism gives the power to the rich, who then are obliged to use that money to get more powerful, and more rich, and more powerful. It is a never ending circle that is in no-way sustainable.

Marxism is a fantastic system that is the most, sorry *only* humane form of government I have ever come across. No one has ever tried it, and certainly no Marxist ideas are in use in the UK. Even the NHS (R.I.P.) was created to "keep the working class working".

Shame, I was hoping they would do a going out of business sale before closing the stores, I could have done with a cheap console to use as a media centre :(

I'm sorry for the people who are now out of a job, but I'm not sorry that game is going into administration. Hopefully something better will come out of all this.

Errr should I be rushing to use all my Game reward points? I haven't got an amazing amount but it would be a shame to lose them!

EDIT: Too late website is gone
