Game like Freelancer

It's quite small in scope though, the 'universe' is not really a universe just a series of very small linked levels. It's more like a FPS than traditional space game.

Well worth a try though especially with steams refund policy, if it doesn't tick the boxes pretty quickly it's not going to even after multiple hours.

Grrr. Installed Freelancer (had to borrow an external usb dvd drive lol) but the core game doesn't run fully on Win7 x64. The intro plays and then it drops to desktop. Can't even begin to work it out. I also downloaded Crossfire hoping that would help - it's intro and the FL intro play before dropping to desktop. Ended up rage quitting trying to find a solution

I will be giving this ago tonight (Although Windows 10), and fingers crossed it works, if I find anything out I will let you know.

Strange you guys struggling so much, I had no issues when using it with the Crossfire Mod.

Sadly no. Also tried XP compatibility mode on Win7 x64 but it just drops back to desktop right after the intro movies. I never see the menu period. Odd thing is, I swear I ran it a good couple of years ago on Win7...

I gave up as well sadly, got it all installed, followed the guide but soon as I go to launch I get an error which I googled the hell out of and still nothing

sad times.

I couldn't even get as far as intro movies just click play after selecting different shaders and boom nothing.

Did you make sure you ran the original freelancer first before installing and activating the mod?
I got it working on win 10

Quick heads up. I got the game running on Win7x64 but uninstalled as I am out of free time to really play it (missus returns from holiday this week!)

I followed the instructions on the site below, and finally I got to the main menu, whereas before it would drop to desktop. I didn't venture any further (I should have but I'm an idiot) at the risk of being hooked all over again so hopefully the game would have still been fine regardless.

If anyone is still having problems running freelancer on windows 10 goto to program features legacy programs and enable direct play worked for me.

All good with the crossfire mod
