Game moments which you've just thought.... "My goodness"

Doom - 486, was a kid and didnt know how to get the sound working so i had to make do with the beep beep of the pc speaker. I think it made it more scarier :P

C&C - the first time i loaded into the first gdi mission and the music kicked in.

Quake - first time i went online, and was wtf is going on

GLQuake - first time i booted it up on my voodoo.

Quakeworld - being the only HPW on barrysworld ffa server and still reachinng 50 frags first. Hangtime was usually at 48 ;). Great times.

FF7 - Omnislash

CS - last person left alive and then taking out the whole other team

SSF4 - first time i pulled off a ryu dragon punch, focus cancel into ultra in a ranked match.

Other games i remember having great moments : Freespace 2, Tiefighter vs Xwing

1st time i loaded up q2 and The Edge - 1st multiplayer game - WOW !

I was playing to 4 am most days on dial up massive bills and my missus left me soon after :) lol

Stalker: Clipping a beautifully rare headshot with my rusty AK, before jogging down and looting the body before disappearing into the distance.

Bioshock - Fighting Sander F'ing Cohen's spider slicers to the sound of the Nutcracker
When you meet your first splicer + the mother one cradling a gun in the pram
Then the rest of it all being amazing

Bioshock 2 - A few in there but didn't touch Bioshock one in any way. Although seeing things through the little sisters eyes was great

Mass Effect - Everything, even the damn elevators.

Mass Efrfect 2 - The trailer (with two steps from hell) the beginning (but I wish it was skippable!) the final fight, escaping the collectors base cutscene to 'suicide mission' soundtrack, drinking in the bar and seeing an agely matriarch become more attractive and many many more!

World at War: The Soviet scenes, Gary Oldman!! (The septic missions were such a bore)

Far Cry 2 - The landscape. Just wish the game wasn't so damn repetetive.

BF: BC - The menu theme with the piano (granted I had it on the PS3...)

Portal - The ending "'Hello' that's you, that's how dumb you sound!" had me in stitches (well the whole game did)

Dragon Age: Origins - Quite a few in there (just wish you could stab Isolde in the face. IN THE FACE!!!)

C&C: Generals zero hour - China soundtrack and single players Oh mein Gott!!

I was running to the next base on BC2 as current base had been taken and I heard a jeep to my right, he was heading straight for me in an attempt to run me over but there was an AT mine there, he went right over it, the jeep exploding in a massive orange ball, it flew into the air coming straight for me, flipped, hit the ground on its roof and landed literally a right in front of where I stood, one of the most amazing thing i've ever seen in a game it looked fantastic and I stood there for a few seconds in awe at what just happened

I have had something similar happen with an exploding jeep coming towards me. Insane indeed! Same with a chopper that got blown up I looked up to see it spinning down right above me I had to leg it and it landed about a foot behind me. Epic. :D

First cutscene in the first frozen level in crysis *spoiler* when prophet makes a grand return :) */spoiler

many moments in the following games:

gears of war 2
mass effect (1 and 2)
halo 2
ending of cod4
red faction 1
gta4
oblivion
kotor
half life 2 + ep's esp ending of ep2.

Bound to miss out a good few since there's too many to list accurately.

Quake 1 - Simply, nerves and sweating palms and wow! The first time I died was, although a disappointing moment, still great to watch. I got speared by that huge rectangular block of stone on...I think...Castle of the Damned.

Unreal - Breathtaking views and a good storyline.

System Shock2 - The best 'old' game I have ever played. Only completed it for the first time a couple of months ago. The voice acting and diaries added so much atmosphere. A very good storyline.

Deus Ex - My all time favourite. Virtually every moment is pure class. The effort in the writing that must have gone in to the game still surprises and impresses me to this very day.

Far Cry - Fantastic non-linear play with excellent graphics and A.I. A long game, too. Wasn't over in a week end, though I did play it on realistic. I actually liked the lack of being able to save the game when you wanted; check points added to the tension.

Fear - Yes, it's repetitve but the storyline keeps things moving, listening to phone messages etc. The atmosphere is so strong I can actually feel it at times. The best linear shooter I have ever played. Every time the story unfolded, I just thought that this was so immersive and well...I forgot about everything else and just played. Thee highest marks for atmosphere!

The Stalker Games - Well, what can I say...an fps with an rpg combined. My favourite genre. When I accidentally bumped into a bloodsucker at a train yard (really wasn't expecting it), completely random! I had died just before and loaded up my last save game and true to its word, the X-ray engine did not disappoint! ;)

Crysis, when you first emerge from the Alien ship into the frozen paradise, thats pretty much scorched into my mind! another awesome Crysis moment, this time from Warhead, is the epic finale at the airfield when the sky goes black, lightning and that HUGE warship thing emerges from the darkness, combined with that epic score its a moment to remember!

Homeworld, the first cutscene, the burning of Kharak to that incredible music. won't forget that moment, like ever...and what a bloody game that was in general, best of a generation!

Gears of War II, the EPIC speech by the COG leader, rallying the troops, best speech in a game ever, period!

COD: MW1, the finale of the game, the John Woo style sliding of the pistol from Price to Soap, great ending to an unfortunately short game...

COD: MW2, *potential spoiler* the fight between Price and Sheppard at the end while Soap is lying on the ground, seemingly nailed only to agonisingly pull out the knife and get Sheppard in the eye with it..! Soap is THE knees of the bee...

Halo 3, i know its not PC but still the final scene when John gets back to Forward Unto Dawn and the Installation 04 in the background behind him lighting up, quite memorable!

think that'll do it for now :)
