Game Servers

I suppose if it's your server then you can enforce whatever rules you like, but you can't blame people for their reactions here... You're not banning people for exploiting something the game developers hadn't intended to give them an advantage/disadvantage, just for playing the game in a way that you disagree with or feel like stops the game being fun for you (because you feel that you're getting killed by many players who happen to be jumping). Clearly you're not alone in that if your server queue stats aren't made up, but then why the super-butthurt defensiveness?

I finish top most of the time rufus, top 2 or 3 9/10 times. It's not the fact I myself am getting killed over and over, none of the guys in the clan like it. And yes as you say it's our server so we are entitled to our own rules. And for the girls above you, I know the difference between bunny hopping and jumping.

Close thread please, won't be commenting in here again /

The way I read it is that you get a bit butt hurt when others beat you, so you start kicking them from the server. There is nothing wrong with bunny hoping, especially if it's part of the game code. You just need to learn to play the game and deal with it.

O and you only finish top because you ban everyone :p

If something is genuinely an exploit which wasn't intended the devs (usually) patch it or fix it eventually... Thinking of those dual 1887 shotguns in MW2 which seemed for a period to have their range/spread/damage set in such a way that people could absolutely destroy with them - people bitched and moaned, but eventually they patched it back to sensible stats... Or how about the way you could glitch into the other teams spawn room on TF2s Junction map and rack up kills with little to stop you... patched out...

These things I could understand banning people for - If someone has realised they can just use those poorly balanced shotguns or spawn-room glitch to rack up a 100-0 score and think they're awesome whilst ruining the game for everyone else... I don't see this with people jumping/bunnyhopping... It looks stupid and may not be realistic but if it really was an exploit it would get fixed (as some have suggested "true" bunnyhopping has been)...

^^ End of the day his server, his group of friends/audience he can do what he likes but to try and paint a picture any other way regarding skill, etc. isn't fooling anyone - no actual experienced and skilled player will complain about people bunny hopping - it only ever gives you an edge against less skilled players (and some tactical situations) and a higher skilled player knows exactly how to take advantage of it to their benefit.

As a old school Quake 2 / Quake 3 CPMA player... I find this crazy too. Banning people who can move faster than you because they took the time to learn bunny hopping / strafing? haha. What if a player comes along with both good movement and aim at the same time, whats the excuse then? :)

Just out of interest what was your Quake 2 alias? :)
