If it's 50cm, why bother

There's a wall in the way :D Basically I have my router plugged into the master socket in the cupboard with the water heater theres a thin internal wall then my desk is pushed up next to the wall and my antenna is up against the wall just across from where the router is in the cupboard.

I rent so I can't do any internal routing etc.

Wireless. Would like wired but from where my pc is to the router, it just isnt a viable option right now. Soon when we move into a new house....

So for all you using wireless but wishing you were on wired what's your reason for not just using the powerline adaptors?

Cant get them working at all, possibly due to the wiring in my house. The rooms that the two pc's are in have different age wiring. My old second rig is connected to the router at one end of the room, wiring in this side is about 20 years old, my gaming rig is kept in a recently built extension, (knocked through and extended the room). Unfortunately due to space constraints i cant swap the location of both machines around.

Did use wireless for ages, and it's perfectly fine for browsing, but when it comes to gaming and file transfer it's awful, so I went back to wired - cable up the stairs :D

Generally wireless unfortunately - it just isn't feasible to run an ethernet cable up to my room without some serious DIY.

Although having said that BC2 seems to be the only game that suffers without a wired connection so I'm having to use a cable at the moment as am going through a BC2 addiction of late!

Wired. Though my PS3 is wireless, and is too far away so connection is erratic.

I hear you can buy an adapter for PS3 that allowes you to use a wireless N signal. The other option, powerline supply, is just too expensive to be worth it.

Router is directly below my room so the cable just goes out the window and along the wall to the bedroom window.

Don't think I'll ever bother with Wireless unless I had no other choice. As others have said, fine for browsing and general stuff but not for gaming and large file transfer.

Wireless, due to the rents not allowing me to run cables through walls lol but i still get <30ms pings to manchester servers on Speedtest, and usually always <1ms to 2ms occasionally pinging the router.

I'm wireless but only playing MMO games, I don't find the lag any issue at all but then I've not tried any FPS games. Never have issues with drops outs or random spikes.

This for me at the moment, as im only playing WoW on a laptop.

Main PC is Wired straight to the router.
