Games for 3 year olds

I guess I am only talking about the console exclusives.... The arcade ports are nice but I have an arcade.cab so only use the console games for their exclusives. Am sure the megadrive had some but I haven't found any which grabbed me yet.
My mate just picked up Paprium which he backed ages ago which technically looks nice and I do like xeno crisis (another one he backed but whilst technically it is a megadrive game I don't think modern releases count)

As for a 3 year old. I found my lad just liked watching back then it is only now 18 months on he has started to want to have a go himself

I would recommend the newer Lego games... the aspect of infinite lives makes it work so well. When they are older, games like Mario odyssey work well, especially with assist mode on.

My kids 5 and he barely gets it, controllers and gaming in general. He's rarely seen me playing though as I only game when wife and kids have gone to bed but I do have coin ops setup on my home pc in my office now and he asks to play Nintendo DS version of Mario Kart on it as he finds snes version more challenging.

My 5yo loves minecraft and Mario kart (with assists) on her switch, she’s making portals and all sorts!

she also really enjoyed astrobot on ps5 and Lego ninjago which was a ps+ game as your don’t really die which is great. So I presume the other Lego games will be the same.

but we limit her time on both and they are used as treats when she’s done something good.

It's still emulation which is [not allowed here] nowhere near as good as original games (arcade or console)
Unless you have stacks of original Jamma PCBs from arcades or hundreds of original arcade machines. It must get expensive owning all those Jamma boards for each game ;)

Personally I prefer original hardware over emulation

Oops sorry forgot about that. (My comments on paprius and xenocrisis are absolutely on original hardware..... I have the megadrive collection on steam but I do know what you mean about real hardware.

You should definitely check out Rush A Disney Pixar Adventure. It is available on Gamepass for PC and Xbox. My 4 year old girl loves it. It is very easy gameplay and can be played coop. It's made by Asobo studios, the same folks that made Flight Simulator and Innocence - A Plague Tale.

My daughter got on well with trine (weirdly the third one seemed the best fit for her). It's pretty, it's a puzzle game (but an easy one) so you can teach some problem solving skills while you're at it.

If you want to be lazy, you can quietly have a wireless m&kb to hand to "help" them without them necessarily knowing.

Msfs 2020 is actually a fun one too for showing the scale of the world, where you live in relation to family, and if you turn off overspeed damage etc, it's pretty easy for them.

But since she started school she had a lot of fun with "teach your monster to read" (mentioned above as on android, also on fire tablet). Very good to reinforce the school curriculum on reading and paced well enough to be fun but not annoying.

My son (3) loves all the sonic games and mario. Quite surprised how good he is at them. Been playing super mario 3D world with him recently good fun for both of us. Can’t see the problem with a 3 year old gaming as long as it’s in moderation. He loves to watch me play other games too.

My son loves VR, the whale encounter and underwater ones in particular. It's just basically looking and walking around.

Otherwise he likes TF2 but 3 is too young for FPS.

In the real world get him a 'stomp rocket' - trust me they're great fun!

Did you say he's 3 and playing VR? Its recommended children under 12 should not play VR as it can seriously effect development of eyesight and can cause serious issues. Obviously its to each their own and you do what you feel is best for your kids but those "side effects" are enough to put me off letting my little one use it even though I would love her to.

Toca Boca
BBC Kids games.
Alien Isolation
Sims
Farming/Railway/etc simulator

tbh when my daughters were 3 they wanted to watch more than anything.
give them a couple of years and they will be up to their ears in roblox and minecraft (mine both started minecraft at about 5)
