I'm just wondering whether or not to send my monitor back as most games I've tried just do not support the above resolution.

Evil Within
Metal Gear Sold V
Fallout 4
Darksouls 3

What I cannot understand is a game that came out, must be 8 years agon, Dead Space works perfectly and looks stunning!

Lazy developers or what? I've had 4k and much prefer this resolution, but if I can only play 50% of new games in it, I'll have to go back to 1080p.

Semi rant, and warning. 3440x1440 is not well 50% supported with modern triple A titles, that I've found so far. It's a joke.

You havnt put much effort into getting them to run in that resolution have you? I have Fallout 4,MGSV and Darksouls 3 running in 3440x1440 just fine. MOST games run fine with the Blizzard titles the only games Ive been unable to get running at said resolution

Flawless Widescreen becomes your bestfriend when you turn 21:9.

Can be a bit of a pain, no point sending your monitor back, just run the games 16:9 that don't work.

Most games will work though Reaper. A couple of minutes max is enough to find a fix with most recent AAA supporting it out the box

How did you get Dark Souls 3 working if I may ask?

This is probably the best bet, thanks. Once you've played Witcher 3, Dead Space 1 it just makes you want to forget about games that do not support it natively.

Dude, I almost went 3440x1440 but couldn't afford the X34 so didn't in the end.

Even then, I knew most titles didn't work with it, so I did my homework (30 mins of googling) and found most games that didn't natively support it could be 'modded' to...

You call your self a PC gamer? This isn't an Xbox! Not plug and play, you need to get your hands dirty if you want the best.

Indeed, the only game to date that never worked perfectly but was someone OK, was Dead Rising 3. Rest have been great! :D

Only reason I said it was a pain, is because I keep forgetting to start it half the time. :p

No I call myself a gamer/dba/software designer/team leader and a successful person who has been on the PC scene for over 20 years. Believe it or not, plug and play was introduced in Windows ME and it seemingly still doesn't work.

Easy fix for developers, messing around with fixes that don't work 100% so far, blame the developer not me. Genius.

Chill out chap! Jesus, I guess you missed the subtle tones of me throwing my post as a light hearted joke? Mind you, I didn't put the smiley faces to the post.

Yes, I agree, dev's are lazy. But I wouldn't say it's bad enough to rid your self of that awesome monitor!

Being in IT infrastructure my self for the past decade, and PC gaming for the past 15 years. I'd also agree plug and play never works past basic interface devices. But we can wish can't we?! :D

Must admit I thought you were being a bit harsh. Damn the neutral tone of the internets.
One smiley face would have made the whole difference.

It's same when I get a text from the girlfriend if there are kisses or a smiley at the end she can say anything. If they're missing we'll have a full blown argument over nothing.

Back on track...
Having just bought a 21:9 myself I feel your pain. Some games just don't work, some do. I play it by ear.
Have you tried Deus Ex? Looks gorgeous at that res but as soon as you take damage only the middle 16:9 bit goes red while the edges look normal. Very immersion breaking.
Oh yeah, another vote for Flawless Widescreen.

Jokes and sarcasm doesnt seem to translate in forums, i've had people correcting what i thought were quite obvious sarcastic statements in the past. Theres probably images and smileys were suppose to be using to make it more obvious when were trying to be funny but im too lazy to find out.

I was annoyed at his "30min research on the Internet" quip, and the fact he gave me no advice like most have actually. Plus my ex is on my case, which never helps. I'm stuck playing Witcher 3 with hairworks off until tomorrow when my 1080 arrives! The rollercoaster ride that is the PC!

21:9 being niche/non-standard, means you're going to have some more pain (and less desk space ;)).

There are some tools (flawless) that can help but I'm sure it will get better. It would be great if people gave feedback to the dev companies on this though, please do.

MGS:V works fine, although I've recently re-installed LA Noire and that doesn't. It doesn't even stick to fullscreen and needs adjusting in options everytime I start it.

I played Fallout 4 fine in full screen on my X34 while it was working. I can't remember what I had to do to achieve that but it wasn't hard.
I broke my x34 (it's intact but non-functioning), cost of repair would have been over £700. If you want an x34 to artistically smash up let me know, you can have it (they sent it back to me, Moonbase Alpha Reading sector).
Acer did pay for the sending and return.

I just wished the devs actually enjoyed the games they make, they'd stick the option in as the game is much more immersive, like si games or the developers of Dead Space(who were WAY ahead of the game, and still are).

Playing games in 3440x1440 is the way forward in my opinion. Wish I actually enjoyed Project Cars.

But yeah, no pain no gain.
