Games that you really looked forward to!

Unreal - For months magazines were showing these amazing truly next-gen screen shots.
The second it was released I bought it and......put it in a drawer as my PC couldn't handle it :(

However, when I did get a faster PC, I played it for many years :)

A crap load of the Smackdown games for PS/1/2. Was a huuuuuuuuge fan.

Haven't played them in years though.

Not a game as such but I went and stood outside Dixons at 4am until they opened to get one of the two Nintendo 64s they had to sell on day of release. Then I spent all day and night playing Mario64.

The only game i ever wanted to get at midnight was Metal Gear Solid on the PSX.

I begged my dad to take me (12yo) but i had to wait until after school.

Brilliant game, shame the sequels were ruined by too many cutscenes.

I really, really looked forward to Red Faction 2 after me and a friend spent months shaping the landscape in the first. Oh how I was disappointed. :(

Same happened with Final Fantasy X-2 and XII. :o

There were some positives, though. I waited in a huge queue with my grandmother to get Final Fantasy IX and then played it for about two months solid, exploring every little part of the world, grinding to level up etc. and it was so, so worth it. Likewise, Forza 3 got me excited and did not disappoint in the slightest. :D

Mostly snes games. SF2 and Secret of Mana in particular. I think each cost me over £80 and for the hours of fun I got out of them they were worth double that. On the PC RTCW stands out. The Beach demo blew me away completely. Insta buy that took away 4 years of my game time!

I was pretty hyped for Black & White after all the stuff I read about it from the devs in magazines. This was after their epic games like Theme Hospital, Magic Carpet, Syndicate Wars etc so I expected quite a lot. Haven't bought a Molyneux game since. The game wasn't bad, it just seemed half a game and wasn't quite what they built it up to be

Was vaguely interested in Darkfall since 2003 or so, then in 2008 when it seemed to be coming out I was pretty hyped, expecting a UO type full loot RPG mmo game with decent pvp. Was fun at first then was disappointing a few months in when it was clear it wasn't ready or had half what was promised. Just had infinite PVE grind to keep people playing (no caps) and potentially good pvp, except as people levelled it got pretty bad. I hear its better now and they are relaunching at some point with issues addressed. I'll probably play again then

Was pretty hyped for Red Orchestra: Ostront too, which turned out to be a great game.

Resident evil:Nemesis
Metal gear solid
Call of duty 2
Gran Turismo 2
Devil may cry

I'll be looking forward for resident evil 6 :D

Everquest 1. And it totally exceeded my expectations when it finally arrived.

Planetside. Likewise :)

Nothing really since then, which is a bit depressing.

First gta, half life one and followups. Resi evil one. Final fantasy 7 and shenmue :) all amazing too . Worth the hype I felt :)
