Games(tm) Reviews (Fifa 08 vs PE2008) / R&C / Super Mario / Timeshift and more!

Best to remember a review is still just an opinion, most of the scores seem fair enough though.

The only one I'd disagree with to any real extent is the 6 for Ratchet. It does seem the new one very much fits the mould of the previous games which I think is where some of the lower scores are coming from. Not really a problem for me as my I've spent no more than a couple of hours with the earlier versions of Ratchet.

Something like the Wiimote is perfect for Table Tennis. Actually swinging at something is more accurate than buttons.
It's all about fun and Wii TT might just have that in abundance?
 
Im not going to call it bias or anything but one magazine scoring nearly all the PS3 EX games under a 7 seems a bit fishy to me lol. RFOM got a 6, Warhawk got a 5, HS got a 6 etc, the only PS3 game they liked was motorstorm and they gave it an 8! Not saying there the greatest games ever but the averages of each of those games are a lot higher than what they gave them, compare that with super paper mario a 9, mp3 a 9, zelda tp a 10, gears of war a 10, halo 3 a 9, etc, these seem more or less in line with the gamerankings average.
 
I wouldn't say it's bias, but short of possibly R&C (thought I can't say yet as I've not got it), those ratings seem about right. PS3 just doesn't have a great selection of exclusive games.

Nailed it right on the head for me there and saved me 15 mins of typing :p

The games might be good, but I've yet to see any true AAA PS3 games. All the games which were meant to be AAA were just one disappointment after another for me.

Which is the reason I only own 1 game for my PS3 and thats Ninja Gaiden Sigma and if I knew Ninja Gaiden 2 was just around the corner for the 360 I wouldnt have wasted my money. It was summer, 360 had no games so I gave in and bought a PS3 for a good deal (for the time) and its just been gathering dust ever since :/

Thought about selling it, but why bother? :p

So you think Warhawk is worth 5 out of 10? Its just strange that one mag rates all the PS3 game way below the gamerankings score, and all the other games equal or above.
 
Yeah, I would rate Warhawk as a 5 out of 10 game.
Uninspired level design, average vehicles with very little variation and a total lack of communications due to Sony not including a headset with the PS3.

I personally rate Resistance as a better online shooter on the PS3 and Battlefield 2: Modern Combat as a superior consoles online game of similar genre.
 
The scores don't matter for jack **** its the TEXT of a review we should all be paying attention to.
If a critic is bias or just plain crap it will show in his work not how many stars he awards.

I have never been able to stomach a mario platformer since super mario world.

found 64 crap, and sunshine boring. NSMB was ok, not to great.

i can stand and MSG either, or FF, or zelda.

i love all action games. FPS. and Quick RTS's (c+c), oh and PES and fighters.
 
Warhawk is better online than Resistance, automatically should be higher simply due to the added vehicles, probably got marked lowewr due to no single player. At the end of the day ALL REVIEWS are biased because no-one can agree (mostly) as a certain level of influence is always going to be part of the reviewers final score
 
How can ratchet be enjoyable but dated, yet a game which came out 3 years ago gets a 9?? :confused:
I enjoyed HL2 when i played it at release (the same time Halo 2 came out lets not forget), but HL2 is just flogging a dead horse now IMO.

How can a game with zero depth (TT anyone?) get an 8?

Ratchet is the most fun i have had of this generation so far.

Hl2's horse is far from dead judging by the amount of people that have yet to play it.

Am i the only one that thought sunshine was pretty damn good? it took me a while to get into it but i eventually spent ages on it.

Galaxy though is on my least favourite console (apart from the ps3 obviously) but i may eventually have go get hold of a wii to play it.

I enjoyed it a lot but the best parts by far were the sections without the backpack, I want a whole proper 3D mario platformer in the style of those levels.
