Games to get over Mass Effect withdrawal...

Well i am 15, in year 10, and have stupid amounts of time to waste, i need a series badly... Ideas?

The best idea has already been stated several times over.

The Witcher series.

Other than that I would recommend:

Gothic (1-3) (make sure u get all appropriate patches, esp with Gothic 3)
Risen (1-3)

love it :)

i was just gonna comment on MatThePratts post but your reply is class

I could get you banned for that, easily. You stupid Beeetch!

Just an update...

Been playing The Witcher this evening and it's quite enjoyable. I know some said to bypass it, but I like to get the complete stories to these games.

Enjoyable game.....fantastic story telling....a bit meh in some of the gameplay departments though and the lack of resources when it comes to NPC models and building interiors really does show as the game wears on.

Witcher 2 blows it out the water......and then Witcher 3 is probably the most amazing video game, ever. Doesn't make it 'the best' (although it is very very good), or the most enjoyable, but damn, I sit playing that game sometimes stunned by what CDPR have managed to create. A lot of people sit picking holes in the game or pointing out its flaws, but I sit on it for a few hours just doing 'whatever', and somehow all these really interesting stories, plots, events, and characters happen.....and it one of the most graphically stunning and well optimised games I have ever seen, despite the 'downgrade'.

The Witcher 3 won't be bested by another RPG for a very long time. CDPR are so far ahead of the competition, that the competition don't even know where to start.

I'm also playing the Witcher 1 and its really hooking me in! I told myself I can get W3 once I've proven to myself I can get into the series as I've had a few previous attempts to get into the series that have failed

Same, now playing W1 and realised why I never played it. I absolutely hate the controls. Does W2 and W3 get any better?

I know. I'm getting in all the leisure time now as I know it will be full on for the next 30 years! :)

I don't know, won't you get around 13 weeks off a year ;)

Regards mass effect I couldn't get into it. Only played about 3 hours of MA2 but just found it boring. Finding witcher 3 awesome though.

As said the Witcher series and Dragon Age are only ones really close to Mass Effect.(i've finished all Mass Effect games, on Inquisition now about 20h in and Witcher 3 about 10h in)

Witcher 1 may have bad controls but it's well worth playing if you give it time.

Yeah, I'm finding them a bit fiddly. I mainly did ME with an xbox controller and it worked well. Doesn't translate quite so well to W1 so I'm having to use mouse/keyboard.

I like playing on my couch, sitting back and chilling out.

ETA: Thanks for the further suggestions people gave. :)

You will be back on your sofa with your XBox gamepad for Witcher 2, and I believe that the gamepad is practically mandatory for Witcher 3 (never tried it with KB/M so can't vouch for how awkward it is or isn't).

If the OP can stomach the poor graphic for todays standards, I would suggest giving System Shock a go, such a fantastic, tense and scary game!

Well, apart from Mordin but I didn't like him anyway. :D
You WHAT???!!!
Leave. Now. Just go... :D

You are still at school and gaming for 70 hours per week instead of revising for exams?
Just to add to the record - I'm well past double the school leaving age, have a wife and 2 insane dogs, a full-time job working office hours, plus on-site shift supervision and I can still find time for up to 40 hours of gaming a week... although it often works out even more if there's a Beta update for Elite out!

I'd add Sleeping Dogs to the mix but counsel against Mars War Logs, however many reviews say it's like Mass Effect. It's not and it's naff!! ;)

Well, I think it might have something to do with my 10 hours 'revision time' per day being used to play them. Oops.

And, no...I did loads of side quests. Everyone lived in ME2. Well, apart from Mordin but I didn't like him anyway. :D

How can you not like Mordin?

Best characters = Wrex, Mordin, Legion.

(Garrus in honourable 4th place).
