Games Workshop

Chatting to babes, playing my guitar and listning to music = my hobbies xD

and obviously for you to be so bored you felt the need to go and laugh at people doing their hobby you can't have been getting many 'babes', broke your guitar (or just be really **** at it (most likely of the two)) AND your music playing device must have been broken.

go get a life you sad sad person :)

Played Warhammer 40K about 20 years ago as Eldar and Space Marines. Around 14-15 years old discovered I had a life and switched to making music on synths. Around 20 unfotunately discovered PC's and then lost reality playing MMO's from 26-33 :(. 34 Ditched MMO's, discovered life again and am now synthing it up. Hopefully this is the end of that hellish cycle :)

And for Necromancer, Delaque

Was it not Necromunda? I used to play iot years ago. Loved it.

For Warhammer I had;
Ork and Goblin army
Undead army
Wood elf army
High elf army

For 40k I had;
Eldar
Ultramarines

And for Necromunda (This was my main interest);
Escher
Redemptionists

Like most people of a nerdy disposition I used to play Warhammer 40K. Last time I played or painted models was back when I was 16. I always peer inside GW stores when I walk past them but I haven't been in one for years.

I'd like to play again actually. Are GW wargames as popular as RPGing with the older crowd? There are so many 40+ year olds here (where I work) who still regularly play AD&D and its derivatives.

Back in year 7-9 we used to play good old Fantasy Warhammer!

There was about 10 of us meeting ever friday after school at a freinds house who used to play it with his brother (they are both still pretty cool....)

I had the biggest baddest army of goblins ever seen! (something like 80-100 of them) with several giants.... We used to have loads of fun with armies that were almost inline with the rules but usually made no sense.

I met a girl, found other things to spend money on and warhammer got phased out my life sadly. Recently found out my mum threw away all of my stuff too :(

I used to have Space Wolves and Imperial Guards. I used get more from painting the models then playing the game, I still got all the games up in the loft somewhere but probably forgoten how to play them.

Same. I really really enjoyed painting figures and models, be it warhammer or matchbox/airfix/revell aircraft etc.

Played a little bit and really enjoyed that, but it must have been only 5-6 times. Rest of the time I just painted! :D

I knew there would be a million warhammer fans on here! Happy memories.

Did anyone else used to read the gamebooks byt Ian Livingstone and Jackson too?

They were cool.

comming from a guy with over 3000 posts in a computer overclocking forum. :)

No. Just, no. The equivilent to playing warhammer in a shop would be the same as me waltzing to a building with Kreeeee and Acidhell2 in our spare time, whipping out our computers and have a good old chin-wag overclocking our computers together. Posting on this forum is a far cry from that. I don't even have an interest in computers, for a start.

I actually think grown men playing warhammer is very nerdy and the thought of it amuses me also. I'm not saying it as an insult, it's just my obervation and perspective.

Your best tactic would be to accept what you do can be seen to some as 'nerdy' but embrace your enjoyment of it anyway, rather than attacking everyone who finds your hobby odd. You will gain a lot more respect that way. Obviousl Noel was trolling, but my point was for others who may find something humerous in your hobby.

get of your high horse as well, finding mine (and many other peoples hobbies) odd is all fine and dandy, i find a lot of people hobbies weird, but not to the point of trolling a thread and going to the place where said hobby takes place and mocking those there, it's an entirely different thing and people that act in this idiotic way should be treated as such.

I make model planes and cars, but what is is interesting is the number of serving forces personnel that also enjoy the hobby, we have serving and retired fast jet and navy helicopter pilots regularly posting their work up, it certainly makes the hobby seem a lot less sad to the rest of us :D

Over on another of the popular model forums - Aircraft Resource Centre - 2 of the regular posters are F-22 pilots

You missed my ninja.

;)

no i didn't it was a pointless addendum. i'm not taking offense at people who find other peoples hobbies funny (i'm not even taking offense), i'm just responding like with like

';)'

That makes no sense. I havn't trolled the thread, although my post did come out critically aimed at you, which wasn't intentional. Sorry.

Rewritten post:

I find that some people who have arguably nerdy hobbies can get incredibly defensive about them. I just think the best tactic would be to accept what you do can be seen to some as 'nerdy' but embrace your enjoyment of it anyway, rather than attacking everyone who finds your hobby odd. Others will gain a lot more respect that way. Obviousl Noel was trolling, but my point was for others who may find something humerous in your hobby or similar hobbies.

I used to play back in the day, wouldn't mind taking it up again but I never had a head for the rules, Necromunda always appealed to me as you didn't need to spend ludicrous amounts of money to play it, one small gang was all that was needed.
