Hi new to the forum and I'm looking for some advice on a new build. I have decided on the AMD route and pretty much set on the Gigabyte X470 Gaming 7 as my motherboard with the Gigabyte Aorus DDR4 Ram. I'm having a bit of trouble deciding on which CPU to get to go with it I will be using this system for gaming only. I have also just bought a 4k freesync monitor so am I best going down the Vega 64 route for graphics or will something like a 1080ti or a 2080 run ok without the Gsync. I'm not a total novice at this but I know there are guys and girls on here with far more knowledge and experience than me so any advice would be greatly appreciated. My budget is anything up to £1500
Thanks in advance

either 2600x for 6 cores or 2700x for 8 cores. since your gaming at 1440p/4k ryzen catches up to intel as most of the work is GPU bound, also since your not streaming, 2600x makes most sense and allows £120 odd to go towards GPU funds .

vega 64 would do well with 4k, sync tech would help a lot as you wouldn't be pushing constant 60fps . even 1080ti can struggle and 2080ti is the 4k card to hold 60fps no matter what pretty much but has a high price tag!

basic quick system

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,334.09 (includes shipping: £13.20)

some gaming benchmarks at 4k

vega 56 though

racing game - feature vega 64 vs 2080 +

so vega 64 can do 4k, just not hitting high 50s so you'd want sync tech unless you can afford rtx 2080 to constandtly try and drive over 50 fps without dips .

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,483.05 (includes shipping: £13.20)

aorus x470 5 and Ultra arent the same board as many suggest . ultra got cough out on miss labeling vrm, has 2 low and 1 high set for VRM set up, Aorus 5 has 2 low and 2 high, the 7 features integrated units so the 2 hi and 2 lo are on the same package instead of being separate etc etc .
also wouldnt get clash with RAM RGB and mobo ramslot RGB

Thanks for the reply that was my thinking behind the Motherboard that should I want to change CPU for a 3000 series then this board should be able to do this no problems. Is the Gigabyte Vega 64 card a decent enough card not seen much about it. I was looking at the Nitro+ but I guess for what I'm looking to do the difference between the cards would be minimal?

gigabyte uses 6 phases doubled for 12+1 total (6+1 doublers on back to make it 12 as no PWM controller can handle more then 8 phases) Nitro is 7+1

In theory, Gigabyte has the better designed board - but phase types can play a part as well

Nitro has the larger cooler due to 3 smaller fans for more surface area

if gunning for Ryzen 3***...yeah... Aorus 7!!!
