Gaming headset recommendations?

So it looks like my Steelseries Arctis 1 headset is on the way out.

Any recommendations for a headset with good sized ear cups (is that the term?) and a decent microphone?
Also needs to use a 3.5mm connection (either split into headphones and microphone or includes a splitter).

I don't want to spend silly money as I only use them when gaming with friends or playing games where directional audio is important (I'm thinking under £100, but it really depends on how much over and what I get for that). That said I don't want them to be so cheap that they're no good or will fall apart in no time.
I'm also not a fan of the fake leather stuff that ends up flaking off, but it's not a deal breaker.

I quite liked the Arctis 1s. I like the floating headstrap thing but wasn't overly keen on the way the microphone retracted. They seemed comfy enough though. The model I have seems to have been replaced though and I'm not sure if the new ones are as good.

So yeah, would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks.

I've just upgraded from a 4 year old pair of Arctis 7 wireless with Micro USB charging to a Nova 7 headset, massive difference in quality and battery life. The headset itself is lighter although the buttons take a bit of getting used to.

Just bought the Turtle Beach Altas Air and they are incredible (about £160). Open Backed though so sound may leak a bit but they sound great with games - sufficiently so for fps games that I'm ditching the Audeze Maxwell. The TBs are a real surprise to me. Removable, flip to mute mic also so can be used for music listening if needed.

this would be my choice if i was buying now, purely based on comfort.
light, low clamp force on head, nice ear cups and sound can be EQ to suit.

Something I don't see recommended often but have been the best headphones I've ever owned. The JBL Quantum 810. Work wireless with USB and wired with 3.5mm

I have to say I have been tempted by these, particularly for use with the PS5 (I've sold the Series X now). Great feedback on them.

The appear to be comfy, light, great battery life and measure very closely to the harman target. Albeit with more treble than the PC38X/Maxwell (according to Gadgetry Tech on YT). Again I've been trying to really stick to 'less is more' and the trifecta of my HD650/PC38X/H6pro setup. I don't need anymore headphones! But again tempted.

I'm also after something exactly the same as the OP asked for "Also needs to use a 3.5mm connection (either split into headphones and microphone or includes a splitter)." it seems that all the recommendations are wireless apart from the JBL's that 'RaiderX' recommended . . .

I switched from sennheiser pc350s (wore out) to pc 37x (open back) to beyer dynamic dt770 pros (changed as I needed closed back for recording/streaming)

I like the dt770s the best, I'd like a removable cable like on the pc37x's as its what broke on my pc350's but it does feel very sturdy, they are very comfortable, large soft cups, nicer/better sound and cheaper due to no gaming/headset rubbish.
