"Gaming" mice with high DPI settings are more fad, reports fud

Fud = shot for Fudzilla, surely you've heard of them!

Ahh yeah, I've heard of them. Sorry I wasn't being wide I was genuinely confused.

Anyway, of course there is a level to which DPI is usefull, the higher it goes the less handy and more of a hinderence it becomes. My G9 has the potential to use 3200DPI, but it's nearly always set to 2000.

I'm far better with a high dpi mouse, lower ones are too slow.

3500dpi here
How low have you sunk your mouse sensitivity (making it less reactive) to be able to use 3500DPI (which makes it more reactive).

If you use a lower DPI and higher sensitivity... What have you lost?

Anyone can use any reasonable combo if they use it long enough. You calibrate your actions to work with it.

Hmm, I guess its down to personal preference.
I used to game at around 960 dpi, but have since upped it to 3150 dpi and I love it.
This is probs because Im such a twitchy gamer, though ^^

I've been using the same Packard Bell optical mouse for gaming and computer use for YEARS. My dad got it for me for x-mas god knows how many years ago.

I don't even know how many DPI it is... (doubt it's very high considering its age) it works fine for games though, and I've never had any problems with it.

I've used some nicer mouses in my time, but I don't see the point in a massive DPI either. I've seen plenty of mice with weights in too... Isn't that really needed either? Mine is very light, and it's very good that way...? :/

I've got sensitivity on 10 and win pointer speed at default.

The thing is, pushing the win pointer speed up all the way doesn't actually increase sensitivity, it makes the pointer 'jump' or 'skip' to give the impression it is more sensitive.

I never could really tell the difference myself, but gaming mice do have loads of little extra nice features which are always nice :)

MX518 for me, although it's very new so I'm not totally used to it yet.

I find 1800 a touch too high. I love the on-the-fly resolution change buttons though, so I generally use 1600 when leeroy jenkins-ing into a crowded room, 1200 for general gaming and 800 for when I'm covering a smaller area so want accuracy over speed. 400 is very rarely used, although it can be handy for getting those tiny little gaps.

People who think the higher DPI the better just don't no any better, and you can be guaranteed they are low skill gamers.

Did anyone really not know this? Minus those who don't have a modern mouse? It takes 5 seconds of diving into the drivers/software to find this out. 5600 is just unusable. I have always bought mice on their features really. I have a Mamba due to its great Deathadder like grip (except tweaked, nice to hold if you are a finger tip holder) faster shorter buttons (seriously so quick), and great placement of the DPI buttons (no finger cramp trying to get behind the scroll wheel). PLUS It's ability to go wireless when I don't need a cable plugged in which allows me to use it when I'm watching shows and films and other such things without needing to get up to do anything.

Only real problem is the scroll wheel squeak, but it seems like it might be going away. I have never and will never buy a mouse based on its DPI, the only problem is the mice with the best stuff get the highest, price hiking, DPIs anyway.

I'm a high skilled gamer running 4000 DPI with 1000 polling on a razer lachesis.

So you can't guarentee anything. :p

But then I do have the sensitivity down to 2.5 in the lachesis config, but then up to 10.9 in game lol

I've only recently got this mouse and I don't know the optimum setup. But I know I'm top of any server I play on in any of the games I own if I put my mind to it :P

Hmmmm, given me something to think about in my search for a new mouse here. Don't think i would ever buy a mouse just on the DPI, but then again most of the high end gamer mice out there are out my league as i couldn't justify spending £50 on a mouse! lol

Your very comment proves my point your a public server player which means nothing really, and im talking about FPS games here not WoW.

Enough with the ePenis inflating and bashing. The man says he finds 4000DPI to be useable/good for the type of gaming he enjoys, he's just putting in his 2cents to a discussion forum which is surely the idea. Leave the childishness out, eh?

It's "you're", but I never said the servers were public ones :p

lol they are recently though. I don't religiously play matches any more because of family commitments. But I'm a hardcore FPS'er at heart. Mainly CS 1.6, CZ, CS:S, BF2, BFBC2, MW, MW2.

**** WoW. Never played it. Never will.

The idiot said he's a high skilled gamer and he uses 4000dpi I don't no of any High skill gamers that would use such a DPI so why don't you let me say my "2cents" and unless you have something to say to the discussion hurry away and post somewhere else.

Whoa grammar corrections right where it hurts, surely you could think of something better to say than that. Anyway.. saying that "I'm top of any server I play on" refers to public play doesn't it so don't be silly.

Anyway ill let you get back to your hardcore gaming!

After using the MX Revolution for gaming, I wouldn't recommend it.

Hell it looks gorgeous but it ain't a gaming mouse. No way
