Gaming Monitor - What Size?

Hi guys

What size monitor for gaming do you recommend?

27" or 24"?

Using with one GTX 680 and in a couple of months 2 X GTX 680's

Id day 24" perfect size for me (Benq XL2420t)

If your going 27" you need to get a higher res than 1920x1080 otherwise it will look stretched

How true is that statement though, I have read conflicting things; I also run 1920x1080 on a 52" and things do not look stretched, I do of course realise you don't sit as close; but I think 27" is fine for that res, of course this is my opinion!

ye I thinks its pretty much a matter of opinion, some people seem to go 27" 1920 x 1080 and hate it, others love it

i have 950D 27" samsung and its amazing in 1080p nothing stretched about it all!

if ur gaming, 120hz is better then higher res especially if ur into FPS games!

If you have 1080p on a 27" monitor it doesnt look stretched.

But it does have allot less pixel density compared to 1080p and 24 inch, this means when sitting close to your monitor at a desk (as you do) 24 inch 1080p monitors look allot more detailed than 27inch 1080p monitors (unless you sit further back from the 27 inch monitor, which defeats the object of getting a bigger monitor)

You also cant compare this to big 40 inch+ 1080p TV's.... you sit far away from a TV, if you were to sit 3 feet away from a 1080p 50 inch TV it would look terrible compared to a 24 inch 1080p monitor.

For gaming I suggest a 24 inch 1080p 120hz monitor.

This is what is confusing me

Some people say 24" others 27"

Will be mainly interested in themonitor for gaming with the GTX 680

Can anyone post a 27" screen shot for me whilst gaming?

Thanks in advance

Lew

Having played games on 24 and 27 at 120hz i'd say 24 was my favorite. Partly as I sit quite close and find myself having to move my head a lot.

Although 1440p is nice i prefer 1080p with 120hz on a 24 inch(not 27, i only would say 27 for 1440p) as the motion is really important for me aswell as low input lag.

Yea your gonna sit closer but i guess straight off you wouldn't notice just depends how far you look into it i guess. I was just saying is all :P

im on 27 1440 now ok not in fast fps but gaming all the same and i cant see any problems with jitter lag or ghosting and thats with 2 **** 5770 hd ati cards

i cant bear to look at 1080p anymore on any monitor tv fine but not on high res gaming

ah i think this will go on and on because everyones idea of what they like is so different and thats a good thing.

best to try all and see but dont try a **** system trying to power a high res screen or a stretched 1080 image try them all on native resolution monitors

i just find higher the res the better i like the gaming image

if there was a 120 hz 2560 x 1440 screen im sure it would be awesome unfortunatly it seems beyond the manufacturers atm and before the catleapers jump in and say some of ours will oc to that i dont consider them a quality screen tbh

personal choice and preference is a good thing

I bet the tech is out there, manufacturers just raking/milking the money on old tech while people still buying like mad. :(

yer i guess it is but the cost would be mental atm

they will stagger the release bit by bit and let diferent companies battle out the formats

You're going to be sitting at a desk I presume - 24" is quite large already so I can't imagine a 27 incher. As said, you're going to see some quality reduction due to the pixel density at 1080p resolutions on a 27".
I'll say go for a 24" and later if you decide you want more game in your face buy another one and run dual display.

just get a high res 27 no way a 27 at 1080 even a 24 i wouldnt go below 1200 but 27 1440 or noting its a monitor for games if u wanna watch movies go get a 50 inch panasonic if u had said what monitor for games and movies yer ok maybe a low res screen but for games id go high res and forget any lag stories and stuff

the res makes up for anything else id never go back now not for games.

but i wouldnt want to watch films on it...
