Gaming Mouse nerds...I need you

G400 from me too. I had the G500, nice mouse but a bit too 'gimmicky'. The flywheel was fun and ultimately distracting. never liked the weights as I prefer light, and the left mouse button developed a squeak.

I preferred the ruggedness and straight forward feel of my MX518, which I still have, and I still have a MX510 from way back that is still working great.

So yeah, G400. Plus it wont cost you a arm and a leg, but it's basically a MX518 with more DPI.

I have a Zowie AM atm. It's a smaller lighter mouse, completely different feel than the MX518 / G9 / G500. Sensei is also more claw grip than palm grip (aka logitechs).

It doesn't matter if people care about the "technical gimmicks", the fact is that they are a hindrance to the overall performance, and people say they are after the perfect gaming mouse.

I am aware that comfort is probably the most important aspect of a mouse, but it doesn't make everything else irrelevant. Fair enough if you want an additional scroll wheel but that is highly situational, not many people will buy a mouse simply for that..

The argument is pointless anyway :p People always regard flashly lights and macro keys (lol) etc above anything else when it comes to "gaming peripherals"

Perfect is subjective. Overall performance will be dictated by what is desired and what is provided by the hardware. Just because the tracking is X% worse than a purist device does not make the overall performance less, the user simply gets on better with another feature the purist device does not have.

Everyone is delusional when it comes to the best "gaming mouse".

Microsoft's Wheel Mouse Optical or Intellimouse are the closest you'll get to the perfect "gaming mouse". Logitech MX518/G400's are fine if you don't mind prediction or high weight, personally they are way too heavy for me and I hate prediction. I've always gone back to my WMO after trying a different mouse.

Virtually everything else is a gimmick, until someone realizes what actually makes a good mouse. The good news is I know of a promising mouse in the works which could be better than the WMO :p

Someone with sense!

I refer to my previous post..

MS WMO 1.1
MS IMO 1.1 if you need buttons
MS IMO 3.0 if you have larger hands

=)

Perfect is subjective? Not really when it comes to the "best" mouse. Sure, if you play only singleplayer games and/or play multiplayer casually. In which case why would you be after the perfect gaming mouse? Just buy any one you like the look of and be done with it.

The only thing which can alter the victor of 'The Perfect Gaming Mouse Battle' (for lack of better words :p) is the usage of said mouse. For example if you only play RTS games, prediction doesn't really matter at all, but for FPS games it makes a huge difference.

If you want to unlock your full potential, you can't be playing with a hardware accelerated mouse with prediction! If you knew which mice professionals use, you might understand it better :p

Professional gaming is the biggest crock going and all it shows is you feast on the marketing that they are paid for.

I do not care what 'Professional' Gamer Y uses. Just because it's the best for them does not mean it is the best for me or anyone else.

Anything involving a human interaction is subjective. The fact you even believe there is such a thing as an overall perfect mouse no matter who you are is laughable.

I love my SteelSeries Ikari. Just the right amount of buttons, adjustable DPI in increments of 1, and a fantastic, ergonomic shape.

Mine's starting to wear a bit now, aesthetically, but I won't be replacing it until it dies.

Nice! :)

lol, yes must be a coincidence that people who earn a living by playing games use the same or similar mice :p

As I said before the usage of the mouse can change which is better for a certain person. No mouse can be perfect for everyone.

intellimouse 3.0 was the best CS 1.6 and quake 3 mouse and maybe the razer boomslang amazing mice and made a massive difference.

g400 is pretty much hands down the best mouse in the market, and its basically just an upgraded mx518.

This is half true. The only thing that really matters in a mouse is having a consistant sensor, without any flaws, and having the shape and buttons you like. Instead of getting that, you're sold DPIs which don't matter, and features that pretty much no serious gamer uses.

Where this is only half true is that some equipment is better than others, top gamers are better than your random joe pub, and your top players will probably pay more attention to having a good setup / equipment.

What top players state they use, and what they actually use are two completely different things. You don't need to break the bank. My recommendation is < £30. :)

P.S. DPI buttons are stupid.

id say the height of a mouse is important for comfort, sadly razor mice have gotten taller :/. lower is typicaly better

oddly i dont tend to use the extra buttons, they either feel too stiff or awkward. my dad really grips the mouse so often its a mess of random clicking xD

Steelseries Xai here, moved from the MX518. Love the Xai, natural feel, solid, glides well, buttons in perfect positions and all profiles are stored on the mouse. Polling rate can be set easily (remember it should equal an increment of your monitor's refresh rate e.g. 60Hz = 600/660/720/880 etc)
