Gaming Mouse nerds...I need you

^

Not heard that before. Where you see that?

A few forums around back when i used to play CS:S and also the Steel Series Advice states this:

Report rate (also known as
polling rate) determines the
number of reports sent every
second by your mouse to your
computer. Traditional mice
utilize a set number of
reports between the mouse
and the computer, locked to
set figures like 125, 500 or
1000Hz. SteelSeries
ExactRate allows you to
define a limit to this data and
you can allow it to
correspond to your in-game
frame rate and monitor
refresh rate for a
homogenous, synchronous
and consistently smooth
mousing experience. Set this
value to correspond to the
lowest value in either your
in-game frame rate or monitor
refresh rate.

Optimal use: If you utilize
a screen with 60Hz, you
should try setting this at
960Hz (or something else
that is dividable by 60).With
this setting your report rate
will be synchronized to the
refresh rate of your screen,
improving consistency and
smoothness of your
movements.

G700 for me, had a 4 year old g5 mouse that started to fail asked if I could pay to get it repaired and they sent me a brand new g500 which is still boxed on top of my pc in case of mouse emergencies. In between the g5 failing and the new g500 arriving I bought a g700 mouse, I have a good stock of rechargeable batteries ready to do some quick in game swaps.

Great mice from a great company.

My old Mx510 lasted so long I never got a 518, but the G400 I got last year is great - just like a 510/518 but with an upgraded sensor, on the fly DPI adjustment and better feet. And it's relatively cheap.

I am heading towards the G400 now :)....I guess I could get used to the weight....

Thanks for all your input guys....I will trust you lot. I got a £5 asda mouse at the moment and can't hit a barn door if i stood infront of it :)

I also need a new keyboard next :P the G19 broke...and DO NOT want another £150 keyboard....hahaha

I'll make a new thread about that tho :P

*EDIT* I don't like where the DPI buttons are on the G500

You spent £150 on a keyboard that wasn't mechanical? wat

Don't ask :D are mechanical really that much better>

Much. In my opinion.

But, as above, not everyone agrees. The best thing would be to do some reading or ask on the forums about the different switch types (red, blue, black and brown are the common ones), then buy a keyboard with the ones you like the sound of. If you don't like it, all it will cost you is the return postage. I'd recommend buying it from OcUK because of their 14 day return policy. It can take up to a couple of weeks to get used to them, but many, myself included, could never go back to a membrane keyboard now.

I have these three:
Rat5
Razer Naga Epic
Roccat Kone [+]

Each are very good.

If my hobby was photography I would want a good camera, its not. My hobby is pc gaming, has been for many years, so I want a good gaming mouse along with other peripherals. I have three really good gaming mice, I change when I feel like it from one to the other and no doubt will buy some more, its my hobby, I spend on it, what can I say.

OP, probably the Roccat Kone [+] just for its simplicity.

the mx518 has on the fly and the last few revisions all had the same feet that the g400 uses. the g400 is literally a last gen mx518 with a different sensor.

Whats a good cheap mouse to replace a Razer copperhead? Had mine about 3 years, cleaned it the other day and now the left click is pooped, new mouse just needs to have 2 buttons on the left.

EDIT:
Looking back through the thread the G400 sounds promising at £25
