Hi guys. Had to make a new account as i had to ditch my old email that the account was signed upto.

Right i last upgraded just before covid. Im running a

Ryzen 7 3700X
MSI B450 AM4 board
Nvidia 2070S
Corsair 650w
16GB Ram

Got a healthy budget of around £1500 but can go higher. I dont need a monitor. Ill be gaming at 1440P.

Im thinking the new AMD 9070XT with a Ryzen CPU. Iam a bit unsure which CPU, the 9800X3d is only 50quid more than the 7000 one so that seems a no brainer........unless im missing something. Not sure on PSU, HD, memory or mobo id need. This PC will be built to last. Will probably need a case as well if i try and sell my old system as one.

Thanks for reading...

9800x3d is definitely worth the extra £50. DDR5 6000 c30 is still the sweets pot - Corsair Vengeance EXPO is very compatible.

Go with a gen 4 m.2. WD SN850 is a good shout, but anything with a dram cache should be fine.

Mobo, b650 or b850 depending on the features you need.

Thanks for the replies. Its going to have to be on hold till the 9070XT comes back to the price it should be.

Is a 750w enough? was going to go for 850w....

Also guys, i don't want a noisy PSU, ive read some can be loud. What is the best 850W option or more if its future proof enough to warrant a more powerful PSU. I usually keep the PC and upgrade the GPU in between but i felt AM4 is pointless.

Most PSUs are quiet (at least, in terms of other fans in the PC), but I'd check the reviews on somewhere like hwbusters. It can help to get higher wattage than you need, because then the PSU will run on lower position on the fan curve, but that's assuming you buy equal quality to the lower wattage.

That's the 9070, not the 9070 XT. The XT should only be £50 more but you'll have to wait for a drop.

C30-6000 RAM is £100.

Smart move. Should only be a month or so. You might like to console yourself by upgrading your current system with a 5700X3D. Or just buy everything apart from the GPU and carry over your RTX 2070.

Hello again. Think iam going to order everything but the GPU and then try and grab a 9070XT when they come back in stock.

Set on the 9800X3d and the mobo, and the ram, 99% sure on the case i really like the look of the Lian Li Lancool 216 unless there is something else i should be getting for 100quid or less. I have a phanteks P400A and i do like it so thought maybe of getting the G500A but its not in stock at ocuk. Power supply iam also still wondering. Think 850w just not sure on brand.....

And last query is cooler. is it worth getting a AIO or just stick to air? id rather keep the system as quiet as possible.

thanks.

These CPUs don't need the AIO, a decent tower air cooler (like the peerless assassin/phantom spirit) is fine. In theory AIOs can be quieter at high power levels, but you do have the pump noise to worry about.

Some manual tuning of the fan curve is to be expected.

I'd recommend looking at reviews on hwbusters and there's a tier list linked here:

Thanks for the reply. I can't make head or trail out of that list. Think im set on the Antec HCG 850 Pro Platinum after reading a bit on the forum and google dont want to skimp on the PSU.

Air cooler it is then.

The HCG Pro is a good choice, Seasonic (as the OEM or for themselves) rarely make a bad PSU. Downside is, it is not cheap (compared to e.g. Asus TUF Gold, which I often suggest).
