Gaming Rig For Girlfriend

Lol quality kgi that made me laugh :)

For the penny pinching approach get a 64gb SSD (I got mine for £50) and a 2nd hand 6950 that has the BIOS update to 6970 (for around £150). Add a Gellid Tranquillo (£20-25) and OC to 4ghz and the you will be good for another 3-4 years for around £220.

OK first up i7 has been around for less than 3.5yrs so not sure where "4 years ago" comes from; even if you built it on day of release it is closer to 3 years old than 4!

IMO a graphics card and SSD is all that is required, actual cpu (if overclocked) and memory are fine for the time being. GTX570 can be had for £185 delivered although she may want something with more VRAM I guess.

Why do so many men think they should have a powerful system and leave the wife/gf with a relatively crap system? If I had a man, I'd make him use a 486 based system, while I build myself 3 or 4 computers each year (hey, it's my ambition to have the top enthusiast system for every new platform for a few years, just because I can).

I'd imagine either because they're sexist, or because girls generally aren't perceived to be as intense gamers as guys. I also think it's done for 'comedy' effect, the same way women bleat on about "man flu" any time a man gets ill.
