Gaming / Streaming build attempt

ah right, so intel may be best for me at the moment?
darn thought I was finally ready to try another build, so close :D

It's been covered already in the discussion and the videos posted. They were all run at 1080p, where Intel 9900K came out on top but 2700X is fast enough (and more value for money).

There's also a scenario which can come into play (and indeed came into play in one of the vids) - the 9900K streaming quality was actually less in one of the instance, because of too much fps player-side. At which point, if you wanted streaming quality comparable to the 2700X, you'd have to cap frames player-side on the 9900K system, and then guess what? Same frames, same streaming quality, just more money lol. Granted, it doesn't happen all the time but it can and does happen.

Furthermore, if you move to 1440p or 4K, the difference between AMD v Intel progressively shrinks to nothing as things become GPU-limited.

For 1080p 144Hz, the RTX 2060 is a great card. No point going higher unless you're changing monitor within just a few months. And indeed, if going 4K, you'd ideally want to save up for more than a RTX 2070. There may also be faster GPUs than 2080Ti in a year or two, if trend continues.

I'd go ryzen 2700x (look for prices and x470 flagship board to allow for ryzen 4000 in a few years ) .

If pure gaming with 144hz +1080p screen with 2070+ card Then intel 9700 . If going 1440p and chasing frames then intel again .
If you were going to record/ stream and then edit videos with 2080ti the .would go 9900k .
Any streamers that I do watch, are running Intel's or ryzen flagship with dual set ups , personally can't stand to watch basic streaming .
If you can grab a ryzen 2700x and push 2080... Then be crazy not to. Would upscale to 1440p in-game on your 1080p monitor to give ryzen some breathing space and keep quality high, threads of ryzen will handle the encoding .
You can see why Nvidia is now pushing card with Encoding...

All this back and forth between intel and AMD.. they are cutting it out. Spend more on the GPU with them for frames and recording and basic ryzen and intel 6 core for gaming... Smart.. and Radeon is following suit

*** And streaming at 4k... Headache, but pretty if you got dual system packing flagship GPU and CPUs

Ok so gave it another go;

I didn't need built in Wifi as I use Ethernet so I chose the other option for the board? not sure if its the best option but went for what you recommended.

Thoughts?

Unless you go for the flagship Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7, there are better options than Ultra Gaming at lower cost, including the B450 Carbon Pro.

Check this VRM tier list: https://i.redd.it/xda4pmf92pw11.png

Not every board that is more expensive is better for future-proofing a bit. I'd choose from one of the following. The list is ordered so that the more you spend the better able it will handle 12/16 cores:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,177.54 (includes shipping: £12.60)

Alternatively you can go with a cheaper board like the B450 Tomahawk, and upgrade motherboard to X570 or X670 a year or two down the line, if upgrading CPU.

Looks good, gigabyte has the only UK RMA with the boards, if you can't push the x470 Aorus 7 then X470 Carbon. Miss out on the B450 version as bigger brother has one more and will go further with future ryzen chips .
B450 carbon has 4 phases (two lo two high ), x470 carbon had 5 phases of the same type. Aorus 7 has 10 phases that are integrated (combines high and low MOSFET into single package for better performance )

Ok so here we go, this could be it?
I'm sure I can push it for the motherboard :)

MSI and Asus have already ryzen 3000 bioses online for almost all their motherboards. That alone indicates their responsiveness regarding the furure upgrade to ryzen 3000 and 4000.

Do not get me wrong, I like your advices, the way of your thinking and the x470 Aorus 7
(even if it has some issues with rear audio, and maybe not so powerful in memory department as MSI e.g.cleaner traces? according to many)

but at this point, having in mind the rysen 3000/4000 support.

Maybe the MSI Β450 carbon AC is a safer bet as the economical one (easiest update to X570/550 @ XFR3? Pr boost 3? quick bios support)

or

push the CH7 (for 100% plenty of power for 12c and quick bios support)

Regarding Giga
Gigabyte might pass out some pink slips in the coming months. According to a report from DigiTimes today, the company is planning to lay off some of its workforce, mostly from its motherboard business, as the segment’s dwindling sales numbers are expected to continue declining into 2019.

ok "market watcher" ..nothing official BUT still Asus and then MSI seems to be safer bet for bios supprt up to ryzen 4000 than gigabyte.

ASRock , MSI, Gigabyte and Asus, Dell , HP and many Chinese OEM can roll out AMD agesa as soon .As it's launched.

But posted from gigabyte and other vendor reps from around D the world will tell you, AMD do not disclose full every coded line, so vendors that release BIOS updates with new agesa don't know what will be effect with their own bios. So e release early and have to tweak it afterwards, some release late to make sure it's a sooth affair .

ALL VENDORS are staying for Ryzen 3000/4000 , you'd have to be stupid not to think so... NOT ALL Boards are !!! AMD have not made A320 chip official with ryzen 3000/4000 and it's up to Vendors to add agesa to those boards bios to accept them IF THEY think a £40 board could handle a 12-16 core chip

Your clued up so you'll also know Asus has copied Gigabyte VRM set up for X570 boards :) very different from their z390 count and design :)

Again highlight to anyone reading about bios updates. AMD do not disclose full agesa notes to vendors like Asus what's in their updates. Why you find many boards need user tweaking after install an update and why bioses come after fixing problems, intel works differently with their microcodes

Just waiting for payday so I can get this ordered, might have a look to see if I can find any parts for a little cost saving too :)

Can't wait to get back into pc gaming!

Brilliant thank you!

With the Ryzen 3000 launching soo do you recommend waiting to see if I can improve this build?

If your urngoing to wait, pre-order soon as you can as boards and CPUs will sell out of stock. CPUs quicker as you've got i7 4 core owners and f1st/3nd gen owners looking to jump across if it matches intel for cheaper or beats them !

One distribution place was looking to expand their warehouse recently , and they are a HUGE Asus distributor

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £589.07 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Antec PSU deals are too good to miss before they are gone out of stock !
And 4 years on that Gaming OC for £450 !
