Well, they had their ranks, they just didn't show them with stupid coloured belts. There were no coloured belts... traditionally the black belt was only black as the student had trained so flipping hard his belt was filthy (bad luck to wash the obi).I always remember back in 84 I used to do Karate and several of us went over to Okinawa to see where our style had come from.
We trained in the main Dojo and of course put our different coloured belts on with varying stripes.
When we got in the Dojo everybody was wearing white belts from the Master Sensei to the new beginners.
We Westerners love our ranks.
It would be cool if there was a female ranking system as well as the 'normal' male one, or at least one image for the women of OcUK to choose to have if they want to.

Just 'cos some people joined way back when.
I don't think it makes a lot of difference really, an extra rank or two might be nice to add a bit more variety and personally I'd change the Commissario title to be Consigliere which would keep the ranking system more in line with the traditional mafiosi family system but aside from that it works pretty well I think.![]()

Aye. If you do something like Judo or Aikido, a high quality belt will slowly loose its white brillance over time, and take on a dusty colour. I imagine if you trained for 5 or 6 years everyday it'd be black. Is that FACT? - sounds good if true.
ps where abouts in dundee you live semi pr0, i live there too
There are a few posters from Dundee on here, I'm slightly up from Dudhope Park when you are on the way to Lochee.
