That's wired version, I got wireless one as we are going to have lots of work to do on our house so not sure where final place for it will be. If you want to use their app you will need to get the gateway, we both work from home so no need.

All I needed was a short cable to connect two wires from wireless receiver to boiler ebus terminal.

If going wired you will need more length, not sure if it comes in the package.

Edit: I have suspicion that'll just be the thermostat itself and not the wiring centre. The same model number links to other websites with a picture of all the bits though, so chancing it.

Need a new gas boiler pretty quick, our 15 year old glowworm combi storage 100l sprung a leak all over the electric internals. Would like to get another storage combi, so don't have to put in a cylinder next to it.

I am thinking

Vaillant ecoTEC plus Combination Store
or
Viessmann Vitodens 222-F

or perhaps a non-storage option if it can handle our usage

anyone have one or looked at these?

Installer: I have my trusted plumber, but the manufacturer websites all seem to recommend others. Not many covering these brands, they seem to specialise in one or two brands only.
 
It doesn't really matter, modern boilers are a much of a muchness as presumably it is a combi which you are sizing for hot water demand.

If you are going to do anything, install the weather compensation controls where it will automatically vary the flow temperature and modulate its output down based on the outside temperature. It makes large real world efficiency gains once configured for your property, otherwise you'll not get close to the number on the outside of the box, particularly on a huge combi. If you use dumb on off controls, don't expect much in the way of efficiency improvements over what you already have.

What's to specialise in when it comes to fitting one. Repairing maybe bit not installing.
 
thanks, maybe we should consider a heat pump compatible cylinder option also. could reuse the cylinder in the future perhaps
 
Very bad experience with a Vaillant Ecotec but they went through a bad patch 8-12 years ago. Nevertheless the engineers round here like Baxi so that is what I will be looking at when I have had enough of my Vaillant.

They like Baxi because they're cheap and/or they're specifically trained on Baxi.

It’s based on their experience with other manufacturers
They are reliable
Good quality parts parts that are not extortionally priced

Complexity doesn’t necessarily mean better as I found to my cost.
 
Hi all
We’ve decided we need a new boiler, we have a Vaillant ecotec plus 837, it’s over 15 years old and started to do odd things. Like lose pressure, gain pressure, a small drip that took out the hive receiver.

So we’re looking at getting a viessman 100w 35kw, will it be a straight swap?

A local guy is coming around to give us a quote, but I’ve also researched online, boxt, Iheat, boiler central, heatable etc.
Boiler central seems to be the best price, is there any downside to using these online companies?

We are after a new Combi too, after some researching i think I’ve settled on the Viessmann Vitodens 100-W 35kw Combi. Seems like a good boiler and with 1:10 modulation.

I have hive thermostat and hive trvs on my rads and hive doesn’t seem to support opentherm.

Online I have seen fixed price installs of this boiler where they fit a Honeywell Home T6R-HW Wireless Smart Thermostat which is open therm compatible.

Can I use the T6R with the boiler and use the hive stuff for the rads? I like the per room control as don’t want certain rooms heated up when they are not in use.

I’ve looked at heat pumps but prices are £7000 for our house after the grant so a no go. Maybe next time around.

@Slam62 try Hug Boilers. They were the cheapest for me.

Can't explain the drip, but the rest of symptoms sounds like the expansion vessel has failed.

The gas boiler that that I replaced with a ASHP from Octopus was a Worcester Bosch Greenstar at that time when it was installed (new build house) it only had a 7 year warranty it lasted 10 years. The boiler was serviced and inspected as per the warranty requirements, my plumber was not surprised.

If you go ASHP you need a space for the water cylinder (size depends on number bathrooms and people in house), buffer tank, maybe some replacement radiators and other pipework and a location for the ASHP.

The cost to install was less than £1100 for my house after the government heat pump grant. I could only get a 7 year warranty on the ASHP I was hoping for more.

What does your trusted plumber suggest, I would look at gas boilers with the longest warranties.

I would save the money and buy the cheapest that meets your needs, I had a heat pump compatible cylinder connected to my old gas boiler. Octopus decided not to use it and to install a new cylinder with ASHP
