gcse results today :(

GCSE's are easy, and count for nothing when you have done them.
A-levels are more difficult, but even then, they don't mean a thing on some uni courses.

It's more about interview technique, I'm speaking from personal experience.

Yep, school was burnt down once, fire alarms going off every 2 days, not one science lab was usefull

*shakes head*

Out of interest, when did you do your GCSE's? It seems the older the person, the more they feel that GCSE's aren't worth anything.
Klo, hate to say it but I've just finished my A levels and I don't really think my GCSEs are worth anything, I got an A*, 6A's and 5b's but they're only superseded by A levels which are important in my eyes. The step up in some subjects is ridiculous, you actually have to put the work in then lol :)

I did my GCSEs last year and I have already realised they are pretty much worthless.

I got more than 5 A-Cs but half the people on my course didn't yet easily managed to get in.

I also managed to get a job for NatWest with the requirements of 5 A-Cs at GCSE level yet not once whilst there was I asked to provide any proof of my GCSE results.

Gcse's are your first real hurdle in your career path. For me, they played a big part in which college i went to (i got into a private grammar school with a full grant). How good your college is/ how much effort you're willing to put in/ how clever you are will determine which a level grades you get. And your a-level grades will in-turn determine which university subject and which university you will get a degree from. This will then determine how employable you are.

My college made it so easy for me to get 3 A's at a-level, we were basically spoon fed everything not having to do hardly any work ourselves. Some of our teachers were people actually wrote the examination papers for other exam boards.

For e.g. if you have 10 A*s at gcse, any college will happily take you on board, go to the best private college you can, get 4 As at a-level, any university will happily take you on-board for any course you want, go to the best university doing a degree you want to. Get a high class degree from a reputable university and employers will happily give you a well paying job.

Other factors obviously play a part, but at the end of the day when they are deciding between candidates it's these grades that will make you stand out from the rest.

Ive got mine on the 23rd, i know i did good and all of them but science. I should have gone on gut instinct but oh well. :( English im a bit worried becuase im in group 4 but my teacher decided i was good enough for the higher paper.
