GD may close for a while

I did as well actually, DRZ started a very cool topic in SC, possibly becasue GD was shut - who knows... Not sure it will get us there, but its a start and now we know that someone is trying to tend and improve the forums...
 
Did I miss something (was at my Mum's place)!?

Not sure what the closure will achieve apart from letting us know that there is a limit to the toleration of pure dross, and I suppose that if things don't change then perhaps a longer period of closure may be in order.

But I doubt things will change markedly. People will still spam/ask what colour they should dye their crotch hair. I can see the forums becoming more heavily policed by the Dons, but it won't stop people posting total nonsense. Or maybe it will help?

Time itself can only tell...
 
I tend to stay out of GD but even I've noticed recently at how much the quality has gone down, so much so that a lot of the older members have gone.

Of course though the Don's do a great job of keeping things clean but there is only so much they can do to stop the crap and unless the regular posters in GD's posting style picks up then it will stay that way. I agree with the decision to close it for a bit though, it was fun watching people flock into the other forums :D
 
Maybe it's worth closing GD for a period of time regularly, to clear out the rubbish. It's never going to be perfect, unless it is removed completely.

I think it was quite a valid decision- it showed people that if they don't think about what they post in GD then it will close ;)
