GD may close for a while

Due to the declining standards in GD we are considering closing it for a while.

Bickering, insults, rule-breaking - the list goes on. It's better that you maintain standards here rather than having them imposed on you. It's in your hands ....

why not relax the rules a little and have this GD forum as the 'anything goes' and keep the important support type areas to a higher standard?

GD should be the weekend, and the other areas monday - friday....... if you catch my drift

What he do?
Annoyed people as much as possible. He was about as welcome as a dose.

He got banned from here, returned a few times and started spamming the members through their IM details.

close it for a week but maybe have a few more UBs / Dons for the duration in other areas.

Even with GD open we are starting to see some spillage into Motors recently (i know it can be bad enough on its own!).

Yup, he's a proper little 16 year old tool, has his own forum and wouldn't leave you alone until you joined.

I would be very happy to see the GD section closed and infact the life section as a whole, as I am sure GD type posts and users will spread into other sections. Motors has to be next inline and worse, if it hits speakers corner.

One of the biggest issues with the direction of things at the moment, is that there has been a lot of multi accounts and members who abuse the trust on forums, remembering back to a series of incidents with regards to a certain anti OCUK image that was spammed on several occasions. Every time i see a new account these days posting in GD, I wonder what there real motivations are.

It seems that there are a lot of people living pretend lives behind there user IDs, and I personally don't know if the majority of the threads and posts are genuine or utter rubbish fantasy. I mean, I may as well just read a Daily Mail Newspaper.

I would rather OCUK become an established and trusted community, like it used to be, developed through the hardware sections.

There are some great people on here and all the ones I have dealt with through members market have never given me cause for concerns or doubts.

It couldn't be more established if it tried, and this place has been so much more than simply hardware and OCing for a long time. If you've missed that you've missed out.

Did you see the email that the "company" associated with the forums sent to everyone whose address they could get their hands on? They just CC'd everyone in on it, therefore sharing everyones email address with everyone else.

Not impressed - what a shambles.

Probably not quite the interpritation/representation I was getting at, I was trying to say, for it to return to what it was. There seems to have been so much spam recently. It is however a significant cut above many other forums which, appart from the fact have a content and language which makes it difficult for most people to browse on whilst at work, allow personal attacks to drag on.

Yup, im on it too.

Bloody annoying, i wondered where the hell all these mails were coming from.

leave it open, its good to view at work, when the random game etc thread pops up to null the boredom. Anything which is not covered by the other forums gets raised in here.

1 thing I hate though is repeat threads because all's they do is regurgitate the crap said a million times before i.e a religious type.

i didnt mind the original email, just the load that followed afterwards...

I'm quite the opposite. If a large well established company did what they did I'd be quite tempted to contact the Information Commissioner and refer it to them if it seemed there were grounds for doing so. Hardly seems worth it for a company someone's probably running from their bedroom though.

At the end of the day I get loads of unsolicited emails and about most there is not a thing I can do. However, if I get one email and I know where it came from and that I never asked for it, I'm going to take out my frustration about the whole lot on that one source.

A company generally only gets one chance to give a good first impression, and they've blown it with me.
