I can just see the sub-forums now:Fanatic said:Split it into sub-forums and then assign mods to each one. Easier to manage.
fatmas said:As mentioned before, any changes would have to be on a trial period to have any hope of working, Splitting GD up could work now but it would have to be correctly managed and set up.
Hmmm Think think think

The above sub forums would filter most of the GD tripe.
Psyk said:People are really exagerating how bad GD is. Compared to 99% of other forums it's a utopian soceity. Sure there are some threads that aren't too interesting but I don't see much bickering at all.

Garp said:I'm sorry but the idea of splitting GD is a definate "Been there, done that". It completely failed last time, resulting in just a ridiculous level of moderation to keep things tidy.
It's this kind of sarcasm that bugs me infinately more than any of the spam.Tru said:Eureka! We can call one 'General Discussion Club', and the other 'General Discussion Zone', that's GOT to work!

A few members need to lose their attitude. Sadly closing GD for a while isn't going to solve that.

Adz said:I haven't got much to add except that I quite enjoy reading the 'spam'. It's a bit of light relief from work. Some of it's useful too - today for lunch I made something which Penski suggested in a 'spammy' thread about food.
Of course Spie/OcUK don't exist to provide me with entertainment/recipe ideas/light relief which is fair enough.
I must admit I don't see how removing GD will in any way 'improve' the forums, nor will it really save on hosting costs as you're hardly going to downgrade the server... As others have said, the 'spam' will just spill over into other forums.
Disclaimer: I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is a wind up like last time - just so I don't look like a fool when you reveal it.
