GE66 Raider

I did buy it ...... and logged in with my Microsoft account. whilst it was updating I noticed that the 3070 version came out the day after. I was struggling to get my Microsoft account off in order to send it back, in the end I made up a local account with no password, then make it admin, un admin'd my Microsoft account then I could remove it. Its getting picked up tomorrow and then once my refund is given I'm going to order the 3070 version. It is only £300 difference and wanted to be as future proof as possible especially at that price.

With only playing with it for an hour it looks good, pretty solid and well built, the screen looks amazing. And surprised how quiet it is, silent at times you wouldn't even think it was on. Looks tiny to me but I've had a 17" MSI for the last 2 years so take a bit of getting used to.
And its fast but the dragon Centre seems to take forever to do its thing. Maybe do a fresh install when I get the new one I usually do. Get rid of all the msi software. Surely the steelseries app can control all the rgb, and I usually use an app called silent option fan controller its really light on the system.

Ah right thanks is this the one youve gone for then? Didnt you just do the reset this pc option and wipe everything? Think that just resets it back to how it came?

▷ MSI GE66 Raider NVIDIA RTX 3070, 32GB, 15.6" … | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

I'm updating from a Alienware 13 R3 with i7 7700hq and 6gb gtx1060, so the 15.6" screen will be big for me :) I think the only thing ill miss is the OLED screen, but trying to play some games on it such as warzone isnt great, the FPS when scaled down is respectable (90ish @ medium 720) but think its to do with the screen refresh rate, was looking at a gigabyte aorus one but didnt like the position of the ports on both sides much prefer at the back. If thats what youve got i'd love to know the good and bad once youve played with it a bit more

Yes thats what I've gone for, but I had a lot of currys vouchers to use and its only 1899 there, but with only 16gb ram which is still at 3200, ill upgrade as or if needed and 500gb ssd, but have a 1tb to add in also.
It was between this and the alienware but didn't really like the big 15 or 17 on the back of the cases, and I hear the ram isn't upgradable?
After having 2 other MSI laptops with no real faults I decided to stick with what I know.
Currys say up to 14 days for a refund but likely quicker so hopefully quicker. I'll get some pictures etc up and let you know how it goes, one other thing I did notice on the 2070 version straight away was no mouse buttons, you click the tracker pad, also take a bit of getting used to.

I hope you get a refund quick, i recently bought something from there which I never even took (click and collect I had a change of mind on so didnt collect) and its taken over 30 days and a dispute from amex to sort, be interesting to see if its one or two sticks of ram in yours

Do you know which variant of the 3070 the GE66 comes with, the list of 3XXX laptop cards in the other thread looks a minefield for purchasing if they don't specify which one is included in the laptop.

I'm hoping so to, I go away for work maybe the 8th and don't want to go without a laptop. I'm sure my one comes with 2x8gb but can go all the way up the 64gb if I'm not mistaken.

I'm not to sure what variant of card it comes with but after a bit of googling there all going to be better than the 2070 version I first got,

Not really that much up to speed on the cards nowadays. And yes MSI website is a mess.

Its just what people have adopted with regards to the tdp the gpu is using. I know the asus g15 and 17 seem to be preforming well with the 5900hx and 3070 from reviews

I see that, and 10870 on overclockers?would that be that or has currys fluffed? Or just could be running a tad slower, I'm coming from i7-7700 so I'll see a difference..... thats the 2070 ge66 away, just awaiting confirmation then time to order.

the 32gb 1tb model, ordered a 2tb m.2 aswell, just had the dispatch notification also so should be able to put some details up tomorrow
