Looks like there's some pretty tough competition up. Time to do a re-release :D

I've worked on a new version and I've got it mostly ready, just gotta do a voice over for it tomorrow and then get it rendered and uploaded :P

Spent a lot of time this weekend putting this together - MY FIRST EVER VIDEO. Hope you all enjoy it...

A bit of experimentation to save others the hassle perhaps.

I wish I could figure out how to embed the vid but it's late and I'm knackered.

Get the end of your video.. "/BBHRHLbYilo"

And pop
I want to redo my video, I hate it watching it back, but i'm too lazy!

Russ, Nice project and video but what happened to the radiator?
At the beginning I though you were going to use the water to chill the air blowing through the rad into the PC to lower the internal case temperature as well as using the chilled water on the CPU block?

How are the CPU temps after the fridge got down to where it should be?

Good luck with the competition, love seeing these interesting projects :)

Thanks, hopefully it was an interesting watch.

Yeah, I vaguely caveated halfway through (unless I edited it out by mistake - I did a whole section on the radiator connections and realise I was basically zoomed in on the back of my head - so chopped it out) that I would get the radiator in at a later date as I'd need to do some lengthy case mods. The case has quick release drive bays in the front which, in order to fit the rad in, will need the whole frame removing and moving the HDD and SSD into the optical bays above. It'll involve a lot of drilling of rivets so was too large a task for this vid.

The video really was to give a bit of an overview of my future intentions, for the time being, and to prove that the rad doesn't necessarily need to be used for heat rejection. I suppose the point I was making in a round-about way is that by using water for cooling you maximise cooling by utilising the greater specific heat capacity of the fluid but with a radiator only you're still rejecting to air and confined by the contact factor between the air and the radiator. By using the fridge I can (hopefully) cool to lower temperatures and if I was so inclined, completely remove the radiator from the loop all together. It's just in this instance I thought it'd be interesting to retain the rad and use it to precondition the air into the case.

I'll definitely follow this up when I get round to modding the case proper and post another video or something.

RE: The effectiveness of the CHW loop - yeah worked a treat, the end of the video the fridge hadn't been switched on or the water cooled it was basically at room temp from the day before. I ran Prime95 for about 6 hours and it didn't once get near the TDP so there would be plenty of headroom for clocking higher, again, I just boosted the clock speed in the Bios to 4.1GHz as an example. I'm sure with the water properly chilled that margin would increase further - I'm hoping to get a stable OC at 4.5 GHz at least.

Ultimately I won't have that stonking great fridge next to me when the set up is complete - I'll buy a much smaller mini fridge and use that with a decent sized reservoir / thermal store (smaller than the blimmin fish tank however!). I do a bit of carpentry and furniture making on the side so the very final intention is to make a cabinet or unit to keep it all in and display the PC nicely but that's a long way off and right down the priority list. At least that way the fridge can be used and still keep the room quiet.

Wow, so many new entries. This is great to see, thanks guys, I can see a lot of effort has been put into this. :)

6 days to go until the comp closes.

Argg.. I need to invest more money in a decent watercooling set up. Making me feel all small time :( Might stand a better chance in a modding theme, got lots of parts i can custom paint, switch out the LED's on GPU's etc. More my area. :) Either way, Russ and Savagesam, i see you two as the two to watch. Love them set ups.

ENTRY

Here is my ENTRY and I have decided to stick with original plan and made a tutorial video.
The video doesn't show my own PC and I have done this build especially for purpose of this competition.
The first part is mostly with music background and second half is more tech talk.

Here's my entry this was done just for this sorry for my speech, I've never done anything like this and don't dare watch it myself, my mate has edited it for me. so here goes

ENTRY

Saw that I was up against some pretty decent competition, so I decided I'd invest nine times more effort into a new video :D

Again, I've gone for the combo of in depth tutorial for fitting an AIO, and then I did a fresh system tour, including my test bench this time, as well as my other accessories.

The introduction might seems slightly cheesy, but it's meant to signify what this competition (in general) is all about. I also made a logo to go with it. Luke, if you want it, do let me know :P

Anyway, without further ado, here you go:

EDIT: I found out there's already a GeForce Garage logo. Oh well.
