General Darts Thread

I'm not a big fan of darts but this is the most excited I've been for a sporting final in a long time.

I think Humphries could destroy him if he gets too far ahead so I hope Littler can cope with the pressure of a nation on his shoulders and plays his best darts.

As a long time fan of darts, whatever happens, the Littler story has got so many new people watching and that can only be a positive. It's such an easy sport to get into as well. It's not an elite sport where you need millions like tennis, you can get a board and a set of darts for £40-£50. It might inspire a bunch of kids (and adults probably) out there to give it a go.

Strange one tonight, obviously pressure should be on Humphries as highest ranked and the way he's played of late, but seems to be so much focus on Littler this doesn't seem to be the case, but then for Littler there is the pressure of being the youngest ever champ by miles and probably there ever will be, but he's also got nothing to lose coming in at the rank he was, to get so far is ridiculous, but he's massively overachieved to get to the final, but has a promising future and knows in all likelihood he will be back in the final many times in the future if he keeps his head screwed on.

All I know is Hearn is rubbing his hands together at the thought of how much money he can make off him :D

2007 was the best darts final ever for me. The hype is there for this one to come close.
The 2007 final was like the peak for darts for me. Two best of all time slugging it out for 13 sets right to the final leg.

To be honest that game kicked off where darts is today (for better and worse!) with big arenas. Think it’s kinda plateaued for a few years really waiting for some new young talent but this year has really ignited people’s imagination again.

I haven’t really watched Darts since it was at the Circus Tavern at Purfleet but I’ve paid for a Now pass for this evening.

How it’s changed, it used to be utterly silent while they were chucking.

A lot of people that attend darts now are only there for a knees up and don't give a damn about what's happening on stage unless there's a 180 or a 9 dart attempt. It's a bit of a circus singing about Yaya You're and the like. Nothing wrong with a decent atmosphere but I can't abide booing/jeering players which wouldn't have happened back at the circus tavern!

That was the point of my better or worse line above! Big crowds have taken the sport to another level but a majority are idiots who just want to get drunk and dance on the table.
