Everyone is expecting one of the Lukes to win it....I'm hoping for a LL win ....but I'm going for an unexpected winner this year, not as unexpected as a Deller but not a top seed.

The sponsors have basically got the betting as a 2 horse race

Luke Littler 7/4
Luke Humphries 3/1
Gary Anderson 10/1
Michael van Gerwen 11/1
Mike de Decker 25/1
Michael Smith 25/1
Wessel Nijman 28/1
Gerwyn Price 28/1
Chris Dobey 33/1
Gian van Veen 40/1

Probably the longest price MVG has started a worlds in for over a decade! I wouldn't be backing Smith at 25/1 with stolen money!

Van Veen is probably long odds cos he's in Littlers quarter which is actually a fairly tasty quarter (got The Asp, Cross, Noppy and Rockin Ryan in that section as well). If the draw pans out he'll need to beat Pikachu, Cross, Asp and then Littler just to make the semis.

What price is Kirk Shepherd :p

I'll never forget that year, Shepherd was 1000/1. I backed Part at 33/1, my dad backed Mardle at 33/1. Mardle came from 3-0 down to beat Taylor and faced Shepherd in the semi, Part beat Painter 6-2 to make the final. Looked a dead cert we'd be playing each other for the title but that obviously didn't happen :D

Peter Wright is 125/1 if you want to back a no hoper? :p

That year 2008 was Mardles year, he finally beat Taylor after spending most of the previous god knows how many years getting pumped by him then goes and loses to a total outsider in the semi!

I did back Wright at 125/1 the year he lost 7-4 to MVG, maybe 2013 that was? Seems to have a knack of finding decent outsiders although I backed Van Veen at 66/1 last year, Littler was the same price and it was a coin flip between the 2. Great decision that was

Wright is still decent on his day, I'd rather pick him than Price at 33/1. His career is done. Edit - just checked his recent results, I stand corrected.. what a shocking run.

Yeah, classic Mardle that is. Never won a sodding thing and blew it when he had a golden chance.

It's the darting equivalent of truffle hunting this next 7-8 days, you'll find the occasional truffle but there will be a ton of pig **** to sift through to find them :p

Huybrechts v Barry should be a decent game tonight at least.

Yeah, it can be truly dreadful until the prelims and first round are out of the way. Having to watch matches between players from the arse end of nowhere randomly chuck darts around the place
