Rarely is there any easy ride through the entire tournament! Smith scraped past Schindler 4-3 in 2023, Wright beat Rydz 5-4 in 2022, Price beat Gurney 5-4 in 2021, Wright beat De Zwaan 4-3 in 2020.. all games they'd expect to win comfortably, didn't, but still won the tournament in the respective years.

Indeed! If ever there was the old football adage of playing yourself into a tournament it was Humphries here, he was way off his best the first couple of rounds but got better and better.

The Bahrain masters is on in 2 weeks time, then the premier league starts on the 1st of February. I strongly suspect Littler will be picked for that. That was one hell of a match.
The entire match swung so dramatically when he missed that D2, change to go 5-2 up then lost 4-7. Incredible really. Felt huge at the time and it really was.
WM said on comms at the time it reminded him of MvG against Taylor. He (LL) took it in his stride though, he’ll be back and if he sticks at it will for sure be a world champion.

Great final, shame one of them had to loose. Although I did feel as though they both played better in their semi finals.

Yeah, he’s a marketing dream at the moment. Maybe too early? Who knows, you have to feel that they will though. Hopefully has the right people behind him. Eddie Hearn must have had the feelers out for him.
