Yeah but the UK voted against P.R.

You reap what you sow.

I respect what people want even if I don't agree with it.

We voted against AV, not PR. Different voting system. Of course, the best electoral system for this country was found to be AV+ but we've also been denied a vote on that.

It was as near as you're ever going to get and its gone

People argued against it because of the chaotic coalitions that result.

Look what we've got, yet my vote will not count.

Jack Dromey, Mr Hariet Harman, attends a Labour event with segregated seating.

I can't reconcile that, with this :

Holy crap - has Ed Miliband just changed the game? Russell Brand is now urging his supporters to vote Labour: http://www.theguardian.com/politics...knife-edge-ken-clarke-warns-chaos-second-vote

Russell Brand said:
What I heard Ed Miliband say was that if we speak, he will listen. So on that basis we have no choice but to take decisive action to end the danger of the Conservative party. David Cameron might think I’m a joke but I don’t think there’s anything funny about what the Conservative party has been doing to this country and we have to stop them …

I know Brand is a colossal idiot, but if he manages to get significant numbers of young people voting then he'll have done this country a service (especially if they vote anyone but Tory ;) )

All I'm doing is pondering the answers to questions - why is supporting the Tories and the SNP good for Rupert Murdoch? What are these two political parties doing to make sure of Rupert Murdoch's support? Is Rupert Murdoch the enemy of ordinary UK citizens or a friend? Is the enemy of my enemy not my friend?

An article in a recent 'Private Eye' stated that Murdoch wants to avoid Labour in power as he thinks they will force him to sell part of his business as he has too big a share. So he supports the SNP in Scotland as they are the main opponent of Labour and supports the Tories in England for the same reason.

It is as good an explanation as I have heard anywhere. You are trying to attribute scruples to Murdoch. He is, as I said earlier, only concerned with his business.

Perhaps, but it's nice of him to change his mind way after the deadline for registering to vote...

Many nations didnt have a near 10% deficit, which was why they needed little to no austerity. The stability pact in the euro zone state 3% as a sustainable deficit to run (yes I know we are not in it) and even then you are spending more than you earn. At 10%, if you carry on as if nothing had happened at what point do you think the deficit would be unmanageable?

Many nations... including the UK? For the five years before the global financial crisis the defecit was between 2.1 and 3.8%. Not even the tories are going to argue that they would have done anything different.

Im not sure what are you arguing about  What has spending post credit crunch with a 10% deficit got to do with pre crisis spending ?

WTF?

She gave it back at them with both barrels.

Isn't it brilliant how social media is loosening Murdoch's grip on the political agenda? :)

Non story -

A spokesman for the Sun insisted yesterday the paper had done nothing either illegal or unethical: “The Sun sought to speak to Abby as she was at the centre of a news story and had already commented in public. We do not think our behaviour was in breach of the Editors’ Code.”

Its just some lawyer trying to get their 15 minutes.

Jesus, Brand could at least have some conviction about what he says.

Sounds like he got charmed by Miliband of all people

This is literally the worst thing ever.

I doubt anyone that would be swayed by him would even be registered to vote.

Any credibility now gone.

True, seen as they are probably all rich 14 year olds with Che guevara t shirts and posters that they bought from Camden market.

We had banks to bail out. Where did you think that money was going to come from?

Try arguing about what I am writing and not what you think I am then we can actually get somewhere. I'm talking about post crash spending and austerity, not how we got into that position.
