General Filament Chat

If they're anything like the Eryone (if I remember correctly) 250g spools I had some time back, you can print an adapter to stick them in an AMS. It just needs to take the diameter and thickness up. I've probably got the model in Fusion if you get stuck finding one - may need adapting for the core size if it's different though.

Both mine got cancelled, annoyingly the first order went through at 09:50 and it seems like they dispatched everything up to 09:47.

Been doing industrial style panel electrics lately. Some power jacks came with the wrong nuts - so big you could slide them on and off the threads without turning them. I'm bound to have a spare nut somewhere that'll fit, what size are they? They're.....M11x1.0....?! Yeah, not going to have any of those about. 3D print them! So I made mine 15mm AF instead of 14mm and 3mm thick instead of 2mm - you know, because plastic rather than metal. First ones were a bit tight so I pushed the thread faces out by 0.1mm and they're good. Just for curiosity I thought I'd see if I could break one of the ones destined for the bin. Not with my hands, no. Pair of pliers...yes but pleasingly strong. Tried it on one of the metal nuts.....way less force to collapse it than my PETG-GF version! :D

Fixing some crappy furniture too. Made a replacement part with a barbed cylinder that fits in a hole in MDF - sort of like a wall plug but not expanding. Then found I had to take it out and redesign it because I'd not spotted something would collide with my part. Literally took a (baby) crowbar to get it out. This stuff's great!

This entire case is printed out of the stuff, threads and all :D

Argh. Chinese New Year until the 23rd so Sunlu deliveries are obviously going to take a while to get processed.

Desperately needing to stock up on some specific Bambu filaments but all still showing out of stock.

I know they outsource their manufacturing but does anyone know of a specific list of identical filaments under other brand names? for example BL PLA Matte charcoal is equivalent to Sunlu PLA+ Matte black etc

Which colours / types are you looking at?

Just to add I use fair bit of matte dark green PLA and black PETG-HF and while sometimes I’ll just sign up for stock alerts, If I’m really desperate I will check stock every few hours and it’s surprising how sometimes small amounts of stock will come in now and again. A lot of times I’ll be able to order it and won’t even get a stock alert email.

Strangely, my Sunlu filaments arrived today much to my absolute surprise! Got me Pink, White, Black, Oak and Sunny Orange PLA+ 2.0.

Hi all,

Im new to the printing world, didnt expect to find myself here, but here we are.

My older brother brought a P2S, and in my interest, and unbeknownst to me, he ordered me a A1 Mini, just to play around with (currently on backorder).

Just curious if any of you printing vets know of good (non Bambu labs) filaments that are cheaper but perform as well on both the above printers?

Currently my older brother has just been using Bambu stuff, but the frugal me wondered if there are "cheaper" alternatives around.

Only really standard PLA for me due to the printers limitations, but for my brother any good cheaper TPU etc?
