General Headphone Audio

Will be interesting to see if you an overall preference between these two headphones, HD600 are timbre kings, one of my favourites, but they are poor on soundstage, imaging, and bass quality, I think both those headphones compliment each other in that they excel at different things.

I prefer the Edition XS more between them.

The ear cups are larger, fits my head better, the larger planar drivers sounds bigger around my head, the larger ear pads is so big my ears are not touching the ear pads whereas I do with the HD600. There is more bass, not in a way that is bassy but it is absent in the HD600 (but the bass boost button in the amp actually fixes this….happenstance combination that makes the amp a great pairing).

The HD600 does feel more secure on my head because it’s lighter, the XS with that headband is more top heavy.

I am using the XS more generally at the moment.

Meze has released the Poet, and everything I watch and read amount it tells me I /should/ try it out.

Oh no.

J/K they look amazing but at £2k, no ta. The Arya Stealth launched at £1400 originally, and now can be had for £550 ish. Now that is solid value for those who like to wait.

Vs dt990s?

The DT990 are good but they are engineered as an studio headphones.

The Arya are more tuned for hifi, home listening.

One is dynamic, one is planar magnetic.

You can have a preference for one to the other, you can even prefer the DT990 over the Arya, however by most metric, subjective and objective, the Arya rank very well and near the top in pretty much most people's opinion or so call tier list.

The Arya at RRP is like 10x the price, even now they are 3x the price. Is it even 3x better? Can you hear 3x more detail? No, just no. But you will notice a difference, at minimum the size of the drivers are bigger, the comfort level will be different, for better or worse, and you should be able to tell a difference...Whether you like it or not, you need to try it for yourself.

Mostly used for gaming. I am tempted…

it will work and it will be good. A bit overkill but it’s also it will sound excellent.

Let’s just say you will probably never have to upgrade it again in your life besides replacing the ear pads every few years.

You can also get an inline mic as well from Meze if you want.

I bought the Aryas :D

Curious to see how they stack up against my 990s. Whilst I’ve always loved the soundstage of the 990s, I’ve always found the treble to be a bit harsh, so this change will be interesting.

Very nice, I thought the edition XS were pushing the boat out!

I am pretty confident it will be on sale again on Black Friday or Prime Day.
I'm not spending any more on headphones, I'm done with the XS, and probably should have stopped with the H400SE.

Have a pile in my mancave now:

Sony XM5
HD650
PHILIPS X2HR
H400SE
Edition XS

Getting a bit silly.
