General Headphone Audio

I ordered my Crinear Reference.

Temped to grab a pair myself, Resolve from Headphone Show seems to really like them and I tend to have similar preferences to him, I also trust Crinacles tuning, these should be a pretty good neutral sounding IEM.

@mrk we need a review :D

I've always thought someone needs to do this at a CanJam one day, bring some big hunk of an aluminon box with a large smooth volume dial but a basic dongle amp circuit inside and see what people think of it then do a reveal on YouTube after.

I got a FiiO KA11 "free" with a headphone purchase when they were doing a deal - it is good, surprisingly for what it is, but it isn't that good. Also got some similar dongles "free" with the FF1s which don't have any identifying marks - possibly JA11s - which aren't terrible though pretty basic.

I agree, i think there are differences between something like that dongle and high end stuff but so long as it can power the headphones on test properly they are small and peoples biases and placebo are much larger factors. Just the feeling of using some high quality expensive hunk of metal i think would have a significant number of people commenting on how good it is.

With two compatible boxes I'm very much in the target audience for this. That said I'm so far down the building a new PC & selfhosting rabbit holes atm I've not had a chance to think about audio recently (which is probably a good thing).

100% you would fool a lot of people. I suspect the argument back would be; not my normal headphone, show floor noise, out of the ordinary environment etc. But the reality is for a lot of people these dongles are probably good enough.

Music for a week and soon off to another trip for a week and coming back home firing up the set-up is going to be so good.

Yes, a very very pleased with it. It can take gobs of power for a start, and it is incredibly neutral. I’ve been really impressed. Take EQ really well also. Yes, I do think it’s better than the hexa but then it ought to be given the price.

Interesting, I was looking at the Prisma Lumen but a few people have said that the Reference is quite close but a lot cheaper, question is do I need another pair!

My most used IEM are my Nothing and Apple wireless ones for gym and walk to work.

Wired Apple AirPods at work because I can hear the room.

I’m basically don’t have a scenario in my life at the moment to sit down to enjoy headphones for any meaningful length of time to justify another pair.

I totally hear you, my most used ones are my Huawei Freebuds that I use for podcasts while working, they are just too convenient!

Yeah, at the turn of the year, or even 2 months ago I would have thought come Can Jam London time I would get another pair of Eng Game open back headphones, perhaps the Atrium, but the truth is I haven't even worn any full size headphones for nearly a month, partly because I have been away from home for the past 2 weeks and partly for the reasons in my last post.

So there is a new IEM call MY LIN
