Haha yeah it is a bit pointless, my UCAS offer said in bold red letters that general studies was not accepted.
For one exam I wrote an essay about chicken run. Got me 30% in the end. Managed 70% and 100% in the other 2 apparently. It wasn't worth revising for though as I had real subjects to prepare for.
I think some courses will accept it at less prestigious universities, or if you are very close to getting let in but out by a grade in one course then it may go in your favour depending on the course/uni.
